This should really have been titled as another 'Tip for N00bs' thread, because the information contained herein is invaluable to being an Ace of Aces.

First, my virtual cockpit:

http://members.cox.net/f1dude/IL2Stuff/DSCF0043.JPG

As you can see, everything is within easy reach, and my keyboard lights up PURPLE, as well. The close confines of my virtual cockpit space (walls very close on both sides) are why I fly the Bf-109 so well, I imagine. Strive to replicate that if you can.

At top left, under the Buddah paperweight, is a couple of unpaid bills. This will never deter the determined virtual pilot from doing his duty. The sooner you N00bs learn this, the better you'll do in this game.

Getting on with it, you'll notice a notebook at bottom left. This is for writing down all details of your online exploits. Here is mine:

http://members.cox.net/f1dude/IL2Stuff/Logbook.JPG

You will find that you improve greatly if you always keep aware. Tomorrow, this logbook will help you to remember what happened last night.

As for controls, you N00bers are always starting threads asking about it, but you are wasting your time. The simple answer is this:

http://members.cox.net/f1dude/IL2Stuff/TrimOnSlider.jpg

================================================

I know this seems like a lot to absorb at first, and it is, even for those that have been playing the game since 2001. But I'm afraid I have to throw in a couple more things.

This is my aircraft recognition manual:

http://members.cox.net/f1dude/IL2Stuff/Manual.jpg

On page 262 it says the maximum speed of the FW-190 is 370 mph, so this saves you some time doing complicated testing and time-consuming reading of these very UBISoft boards. This manual was produced in 1943, while the war was still going on, so it must be right.

Lastly, anytime I look to the left, on the wall I see this:

http://members.cox.net/f1dude/IL2Stuff/DB.jpg

I read this every time I start the game up, and also each night before bed. Give it a try.

I envy your "...Spotter's Handbook"-nice piece-keep it in a plastic bag to protect it.

Your 'checklist' is basically the "Dicta Boelcke (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dicta_Boelcke)" by WW1 German ace Oswald Boelcke, but I'm sure you knew that.

I didn't miss your humor,I'm being serious-assuming the "Spotter's Manual" is authentic,I was merely complimenting you,for the nice collector's piece.

I get the humor in the logbook entries, but fail to see how I was at 'fault' in any way.
I said you'd probably heard of the 'Dicta Boelke',so that wasn't an insult,either-maybe you're taking my "tongue-in cheek" approach the wrong way.

I was basically saying"cool stuff".I don't see an afront to you in any way, none was intended-I'm sorry you took it that way.

I didn't take it as an affront.

The spotter's manual is indeed authentic. It also says the FW190 "is by no means a match for the Spitfires it meets in combat."

So I think we have both helped the newcomers, and put to rest an old debate, all in one thread http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

No,for real, when I was a little kid I used to spend every Christmas in Durant,my uncle made biscuits on a pot-belly stove every morning, and he was a knife collector who'd always find one to give me for every Christmas, used to enjoy it.

I don't suppose you'll venture as far South as Temple,TX,this Saturday for the airshow?
