Hi everyone. Please let me know if there is another place to get this info, but I read through some of the FAQs first and couldn't figure it out.

I bought IL:2 1946 the other day as a direct DL through Ubi/Direct2Drive. The game is installed and running well for single player, but I want to get out into the multiplayer community. I tried playing through UBI yesterday (in an FB game?), but it says I do not have some files needed. I DLed the 1.22 patch and installed and am getting the same problem.

Can anyone offer advice/suggestions to get out into multiplayer games?

Thanks!

DL "hyperlobby", a game lobby that was created by a Janes WWII fighters pilot for Janes, and over the years added support for many games, including il2/fb

ignore the snobs who tout ASE or XFire as "better"

Read the Nugget's guide (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/9121094645). The 2nd half of the first post deals with the easiest way to fly online.

Thanks! That was quick. Maybe I'll see some of you in the skies tonight. Or more to the point, you'll see me in your gunsights..

4.08 PATCH:

http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&get=1908

The 4.09 is a beta patch and most online games use 4.08

I am trying to use the hyperlobby client, but it is not recognizing my game path. I have searched for it and also pasted the path into the search field and it still won't find it.

Any suggestions?

Which game are you using? Is it "IL-2 Sturmovik 1946"? Almost all people are using this online.

If you have IL-2 Sturmovik 1946, then you also need the right patch for it. Most servers are using the 4.08m version of IL-2 1946.

You can download the 4.08m patch here:

http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&get=1908

Click on the blue highlighted text to download:

il2_1946_408m.zip

(you may need to register on the forum before you can get to that link)

When it is finished downloading, you need to double click on the zipped file to install it.

Then you need to get HYPERLOBBY. Most players who fly IL-2 use this system.

Hyperlobby can be downloaded here:

http://hyperfighter.sk/

Follow the instructions carefully.

The game you want to select is "Forgotten Battles", NOT "IL-2". Also, some people have a problem in not pointing the Hyperlobby program at the right .exe. Make sure you point it at your IL-2 FB .exe. This is the file called 'il2fb' inside your main IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 folder, and which looks like a small icon of a Corsair, blue and orange in colour.

The other thing you must do, is to make sure you have your firewall configured to allow Hyperlobby to launch, as well as allowing the IL-2 game to launch. Normally the firewall will ask you for permission, but sometimes it will lock up, so if you want to be sure, go into the firewall, and add IL-2 and Hyperlobby as permitted programs and servers.

Hope this will get you up and running.

If you are looking for more help, and a Squadron to join, think about RAF74.

Thanks Buzzsaw. Tried that and it still won't work.

I am updated to v 4.08m and have tried to point the hyperlobby client at the correct path, but is just says that it won't recognize. I am starting to get frustrated.

Sorry if you have but just to be sure, when you're trying to point hyperlobby to the game path, you are in the forgotten battle room in hyperlobby right?

Glad you are up and running. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

It is a common mistake to select 'IL-2' in Hyperlobby instead of 'Forgotten Battles', you probably missed that line in my notes.

Now you have to learn the painful lessons of flying online versus the server Sharks... There are a lot of experienced pilots online who will punish noobs unmercifully... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

If you decide you want some support in that area, flying with a Squadron, communicating online with voice comms so someone can watch your six 'oclock, and learning team tactics, then consider RAF74. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

We can also help you with setting up your joystick, so it is configured to prevent unnessesary stalls, as well as teaching you techniques for safe takeoff and landing.
