Hi guys:
Just wanted to share. I finnally put it together and IL-2 is all programmed up and ready to go.
I started out with Asus P5K3 Deluxe mobo with built in Wifi. Proccesing duties are carried out by a 1333 fsb 3.0 Gig Core 2 Duo 6850 Conroe. It is kept cool by a Rosewill RCX Z2 EX 92mm cooler. The cooler is good looking and very effective. Two memory slots are filled by Corsair's DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) One Gig sticks. The icing on this mechanical cake was a single EVGA GeForce 8800 Ultra. Its a 768 MB Monster. I've have seen smaller shoeboxes... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif
Sounds are handled by Audigy 2 ZS. I like this card. Its in both my other machines.
Keeping this cool falls to CoolerMaster. The Stacker 830 case has four side mounted 120mm fans blowing right on the mobo. Three aditional 120s exhaust the case from front, top and back.
To make sure it all ran well, I used a fresh, clean and LEGAL copy of WinXP Pro. Using the latest 3Dmark'06 software I was able to get 12,200 3Dmarks. IL-2 looks spectacular on this machine. I have never seen Pacific islands look so good. Kamakazi trk shows no lag or slowdowns whatsoever. Just in the last few days I have noticed so much detail jumping out at me. Things I have never seen before are coming into focus. I will post some pics of the MONSTER tommorow.

All I want for Chrismas is S L I http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Congrats !Looks like a great system and even more respect if it all goes together smoothly and IL2 46 plays without mega tweaking-lots of people report all kinds of trouble with 8800s

Thinking of a rig like this-love to see some screenshots...When do you start overclocking the cpu!?Definitely no point in trying to overclock the 8800 for this game but speeding the 6850 up a bit might yield 5fps or so more....Then again who's gonna notice the difference between 100fps and 105fps!?

Reads like a great system and it will probalby run great and also give you x-ray vision on other planes.

Which bring to mind a question.

If running 2 video cards works great, why not 2 audio cards? One for the left ear and one for the right. Can't call it 'crossfire' though, how about 'deafforsure',
