Greetings all. I would like to say couple of things.

1) Oleg will be absent from this forums for some time, due to great amount of work and personal happy issues http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif He is going to be a dad. So he will be right where is suppose to be, with his family.

2) Free addon in under intencive testing and release date is depending on results of that.

3) Many of you will be really pleased with fixes and adjustments so please be patient.

4) I got permission from Oleg and I will post some screenshots from upcoming add-on tonight for your viewing pleasure.

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

As to gunnery passes, the best was when you dived with speed, made one pass, shot an opponent down quickly, and pulled back up..... The secret was to do the job in one pass; it could be from the side or from behind and I usually tried to open fire at about 150 feet.

yeah dangerfoward that is the so called "HP" mkIXe.

ive never heard or seen of one before, the only "high flight" mkIXs were the "HF" mkIX and they werent in the "e" armament config only the "c", 2- 20mms and 4-.303s.

but hey, i cant complain. three versions of the mkIX, and its free....cant get any better than that!!

Salute

The 2nd external of the Spitfire is one with extended wingtips in place of the normal ones.

This was used most frequently on the Spitfire VIII, but was on some versions of the IX.

Gives much better handling performance and greatly reduced stall at very high altitudes. Plus an increase in climbrate.

However, reduces rollrate considerably, most notably at low altitudes. It was not popular among RAF pilots who spent most of their time under 20,000 ft.

at first, congratulations Oleg!

now a note, not an absolutly truth, but the Spitfire looks a bit strange for me. I've searched around for pictures of HF.IXe Spits, maybe because was late in the night my eyes failed, but the only pictures that I've found with HF wings, both B and C models, are for Spitfires VI, VII, VIII and IXc. Looks like the HF.IXe had a normal span wing, but I can't say for sure. At least on the books that I can check There is no evidence about an HF wing with "e" type armament.
Anyone can confirm this?
My sources are:

The Spitfire Story - Price
Spitfire at War - Price
Late Spitfire Aces - Osprey AotA n.6 - Price

Thanks for pics crazyivan, desert map is sweet and has been on the wishlist for a long time.

I think the Spitfire HF.Mk.IX was capable of 416mph at 27,000 feet. The F.Mk.IX was capable of 408mph at around 25,000 feet. And I believe the Spitfire LF.Mk.IX was capable of 404mph at 21,000 feet. In case anyone was interested.

And I'll just assume that is my new FW-190A6 in that final pic and be happy http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Btw, is this Spit a Mk.VIII? The ventral air intake seems big enough to be the one of a Mk.VIII!

@CHTD

Late VIII and IX Spitfires had the same larger chin intake that had an improved version of the sand filter. It should be an Aero-Vee model.
the short span Spitfire in the screenshot should be an LF.IXe

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Maybe they can make addon map CD someday. I would PAY for standard size large maps...and we can place our own buildings and Oleg can spend time with his new baby. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Will it be flyable or AI?"

From what I know, it will be AI only... for now. 'pits are in the works, should be available later this year.
Unless, of course, the beta testers know more about this than we do.

Ok, its been since "posted 12-04-04 09:14" that ANY update on the patch to FB (Not PF stuff{Although I can't wait for that game BTW}) What is the current status of the patch? Is it held up for lack of development resources right now, or to get in more features? I hear an RC wasn't even available last week.. a little insight would go a long way to keep the customer base appeased..
