Just set up a 4vs4 MkVcs vs MC202.They were no pushover!Seemed to outdive the early Spit but it has the edge on them in turn....These seem a 'forgotten' (no pun intended!)plane in this game.By my crude(!?) reckoning they are at least a match for a 109F while I believe there was a MC205("Saetta"/Sword) which some Spit pilot(he flew and fought against it...) I read a book by claimed was a VERY formidable opponent .

I think it was forgotten by players because it was forgotten by the developers. The plane had the same flight model for years (I still don't know if its been changed) and the damage model was a joke because it could only be damaged in the wings (I don't know if that's been fixed either). I can't wait to see what we get when the new Italian models are finally released. I don't think their armament will be much to write home about but performance and handling should be excellent.

I suspect the new MC 202 and the 205 models are brand new...

So we'll finally be rid of the old one http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Other Data:
NB The performance data listed below refer to the Macchi MC 205 Mk1. It can be safely argued, however, that they were not dissimilar to those peculiar to the aircraft Mk 3, which include the "Veltro" at the Museum.

I am looking forward to these rare birds in flight sims (so far).
They look nice too, and they have decent performance.

TBH I am looking foward to MC200 more than others MC202, MC205 and G55, although IMO Centauro is nice looking plane + it has the best performance (I did not checked that out iirc when I compared them some time ago G55 was the plane).

The MC.s are respected planes, just do not have the same wide recognition as the Spits etc. In fact, many historians of ww2 air battles claim the MC.202 to be on par with many planes from the ww2 era. U just gotta dig around to see these opinions. I like it in game caus it flies nice, i just think its a **** ugly plane!

Badsight.

MC202 have absorbed many entire ammo loads in the past from me , AI in those plane are very safe virtual pilots

really bummed that the G55 might be included but will be AI only

But at least there will be the MC 205 which as I understand it is very similar to the G55 in performance.

I think the worst bit about most of the Italian fighters is the firepower. They rely on a pair of heavy machine guns for most of the war.

Okish against Spitfires but not against most of the American fighters.

Fortunately the MC 205 and G55 are both armed with 20mm cannons. Both were the late war ultimates of the Italian airforce...again as I understand things. A fairly decent set of aircraft that don't have a huge reputation but did seem to have a fairly good set of numbers. And very agile too.
