Do not let that fool you, they are covered in spraylat to seal all the seams and protect from heat, they are stored in a dry atmosphere and are deliberately stored there to allow them to be recommisioned, they will be in excellent condition, they have aircraft going in and out of the yards back into service or sold abroad all the time..... they will have flown in then have gone through storage protocols that allow the aircraft to be brought back to operational use in as short a time as possible......

It'll only cost a few mil each to have em cleaned, reassembled and certified.
After that it's like owning a boat except 1000x more expensive!

A long time ago I heard it cost about $1000 an hour to fly a MiG-15. That was back when fuel was half the price and assuming I remembered the number correctly.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Its amazing the amount of glamorous jet aircraft in these 'junkyards' worldwide...I read an article in one of the newstand aviation magazines recently about a similar site in Romania which had dozens (if not hundreds) of cutting edge jet hardware from bygone (and not so bygone!) eras from Mig 15s to stunning Mig 29s(and almost everything you could imagine in between)-the latter being of some concern to Nato as their sale to 'rogue nations ' was/is a serious concern.
The local airforce simply couldnt afford to run such a fleet post Cold War.In theory much of the aircraft are 'in storage' but they are rapidly declining in condition .

If you have to ask, then you probably cannot afford it! Flying is the most expensive hobby a person can have.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

OTOH if someone wanted to build sim cockpits or put parts to other uses there are complete
systems right there for the salvaging.

I wonder what Monster Garage could do with one to scavenge off of, perhaps crossed with a
good sized delivery truck?

Metal70,
I've downloaded the campaign last Friday, and from the missions I've accomplish sofar, I can only give praise for the superb work done http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
I really appriciate the speed superior speed advantage I'm having with this big bird: just ram the throttle into the firewall, and you outrun them all!

But I'm having some problems here. When starting mission no2, I was surprised to see me flying in a bf110, instead of the do335. No sweat, but later on in the campaign, I'm suddenly flying tail end charlie in flight of ME109s. Quite strange because I started the campaign, as you said at the highest rank. Even stranger is, when looking in the mission editor, the plane I should be flying in that specific mission, is the Do335 parked in the woods, next to the autobahn.
Any idea what could be happening here??

Just as a remark, don't you think that the 'autobahns' are just that little bit small??? I really would like to see the 2x2lane motorways like they had in the days...
