Oleg you need to check the speed on all aircrafts both at sea level and up in the sky.

I have tested alot of aircrafts and their max-speed are 2 slow.

Thank you for the best game ever made!

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Better too slow than too fast. Consider that in real life, most AC in use are not 100% factory fresh, and the fuel might not be 100 octane fresh from the refinery quality. Not trying to debate you here, but I'd venture a wild guess and presume that Oleg and team have in fact tested FB. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Actually...all the planes I've flown seem to do about the right speed. Remember that maximum speed is usually tested under ideal conditions with best engine quality and they probably pick the best plane out of the bunch.

Everything recently has been honed to the point where I feel very comfortable and competitive with almost any plane given the situation and circumstances are condusive to that planes strenghts.

example. Yak 9U at 4100m.
In object view = 670-700km/h
In game without divespeed (15 tests at different maps and mixture settings) = 480km/h
And in the objetc view you can read that it make maximum speed without enginge overheat.

Y`know is this all that matters? I really think this kind of complaint is missing the point...

Oh what`s the point.... I can`t be bothered to try and bring sanity...

I'd say IAS/TAS.

The 9U reaches ~670 at 5000m. That's a bit more then 500 on your gauge (check the table on CD2).

Fly with cockpit off and look at the ASI there. It's TAS while the speedbar and the instuments are IAS.

IAS = Indicated Air Speed
TAS = True Air Speed

It's because the barometric pressure decreases with altitude. At sea level, IAS and TAS should be close.

I found it to be a refreshing feature in this game compared to others, that the planes can't reach their designated topspeed.
The topspeed of a combat aircraft was usually tested under extremely ideal conditions, on perfectly trimmed planes with minimal loadout of both fuel and ammo (if any at all).
Under these conditions the planes performed extraordinary. An interesting example is, that in 1939 a stripped and overboosted Bf 109 E broke the world speed record by going as fast as 755 km/h level flight!

@Dmitri9mm
The world speed record in 1939 was achieved by a Me 209, a special record plane which had nothing to do with a production line Bf 109
