I've read in the IL2 and Lock On forums that you can only land certain aircraft on the decks of aircraft carriers. Rubbish is all I could say to that. And here's the proof - you can watch the Lockheed Shooting Star land (and stop) on the HMS Illustrious at 2:10.

Are you up to the challenge?

P.S. Our bomber pilots are required to take off and land an IL2 3 times in a row before they are considered carrier qualified.

The only real challanges left for novelty carrier landings in Il-2 are the Mistel Fw/Ju combo and a good clean landing with a Mig-3, either on stationary or moving carrier.

To bad we can't fly the B-29, that would be a feat indeed!

Some of you IL2 guys are just too good for me http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

All of Hanglands are pretty spectacular. That Fw-190 (and a couple of others) should have been off the end and into the water.

Capt Frank, no, the music is from the west of Scotland.

Now for the real challenge: to land that blasted AlphaSim Su-35 on the carrier. Might try again (and again) tomorrow.

As requested, Me-163:

also did the BI-1, which was easier than the Me-163, that skid sure is slippery.

I did the Go-229 and P-47 a long time ago:

Though, almost any experienced IL2 pilot can make these landings, so it's not such a big deal.

anything with tricycle gear is easy, cause you can just brake endlessly when you touchdown, in fact, i would put the seafire harder than most of the jets, lol.

You guys must be landing with the brakes on http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif

I've always assumed the the 'Stormy' weather setting had the strongest wind - or am I wrong.

And the wind default direction is from the north, right?

Now repeat all that on a stationary carrier http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif
