I can't believe I am the first one to notice this.

Upon coming across Maria in the Altair Dream Sequence (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTOLHAysL0k), Desmond remarks to himself that "it's the woman from Acre. However, in AC1, Altair - with Desmond reliving his memories - met Maria in Jerusalem (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4rh5VcAc00&feature=related). Is it merely a continuity error on the writers' part, or am I missing something here?

Woow, that's really strange... It's probably a mistake from the writers. A pretty big one http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif

yeah, but she was a Templar/Crusader, meaning she was from Acre.

We met her in Jerusalem first, but it wasn't implied at all that she was from there, but visiting (in place of Robert)

Your argument doesn't hold water. Desmond only knows her from when he saw her while in the Animus...in Jerusalem.

I noticed this too. Pretty big mistake, continuity wise.

Bloodlines is pretty much all about Altair and Maria, and even though there's no Animus interface there, you don't know that he hasn't experienced more bleeding memories.

Here's a bigger continuity error: How does he know her name is Maria at all? She never tells Altair what her name is during the Animus sessions. So there's that.

Two continuity errors dealing with Desmond knowing two things about Maria that the player doesn't know? Too big to be coincidence. It's obviously intentional on Ubisoft's part.

Maybe.....

He know's subconciously?

BECAUSE OF THE BLEEDING EFFECT?

huh?

huh, huh?

Makes sense http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

xD

But yeah, if the bleeding effect can show him memories directly, it COULD affect his subconcious, so he could be indirectly getting fed information from the memories.

EDIT:

And are we sure that he name wasn't mentioned in any side notes or attachments in the Animus in the first game?

Maybe they were trying to make up for the fact that Alta´r's love interest had been onscreen for all of a minute in the first game, so gave Desmond psychic powers to explain it to the viewers.

Then again, maybe Desmond does know that because he's gained more memories of Altair from the bleeding effect. After all, Alta´r would know what his wife's name was and where she was from.

P.S.When Alta´r and Maria lay down in the hay, I commented 'It seems I've stumbled across a sex scene.' http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Also, Peace makes an excellent point that maybe it's part of a subconscious bleeding effect.

When you look back at a memory of someone, even if certain details are unspoken, you still know their name, where they live, etc.

Even if Desmond hasn't succumbed to other natural bleeding memories, Altair knew Maria's name and where she's from at that point in their relationship, so even if it's unspoken, Desmond probably can recall it as well.

Possibly this is a set-up for us fans to question whilst we wait for the next game. As for a plan in the third one we might learn a bit more about Altair and Maria, since they planted that scene in the game which dumbfounded us.. Especially me.

Haha, My reaction toward it was Desmond's reaction "WTF?"

"What was her name... Maria? I wonder what he wants with her..."

*Alta´r kisses Maria*

"Whoah... alright, I wasn't expecting that."
