I was looking at the various models on that page, and started to read about the Ju-87 of Rudel. The captions says: "The dive brake had no other purpose than to make a terrifying noise when the Stuka conducted its deadly dive-bomb attacks".

That's a strange statement...

(me) "My name is Blotto..."

(group) "Hi, Blotto"

(me) "...and I am a Wal-Mart-holic. It started simply enough. They had a 1:18 Michaelski 190D-9 on the shelf. It was banged up, but I bought it. Turned out it was missing a horizontal stab, so I returned it. I should have walked away there, but I didn't. I ordered one from the Badcat site, and it's hanging from my ceiling now. Pretty soon I caught myself wandering through the toy section of the Wal-Mart, even when I wasn't shopping for my nephews. The 1:18 MiG-15 was next, then of course I had to have the 1:18 F-86F-30 to shoot it down. I kept telling myself 'they're $15 cheaper here than on-line, you're saving money.' Now I find out they're coming out with 1:18 scale B-25's and F-4C's. I'm going to need a bigger house, or learn to stoop as I walk. It's just not fair, I'm 'saving' myself into the poor house. I need help." (trails off to pitiful sobbing.)

Seriously, the Badcat site has great service and selection, but if you've got a local Wal-Mart, they stock these seemingly at random, and the prices are low enough to explain the slave wages they pay their employees. Check 'em out.

Fighterduck, all three of mine are 21st Century, and IMO I got more than what I paid for. Flaps, controls, gear and canopy all move, all three come with drop tanks (two sets for the MiG), and the paint schemes are very well done, crisp with no overspray or orange peel. The jet cockpits are particularly well detailed, with the Sabre even coming with nylon seat and shoulder straps. They display well either sitting on the gear or hanging (aside from being emotionally stunted at pre-pubescence, hanging them also frees up needed shelf space for books in my office.) Now if they'd just release the P-38 to oppose the 190....

So... Do the models come "as is" or do I have to put them together and paint them myself?

They come fully painted, but you'll have to put a few big pieces together yourself. Wings, drop tanks and horizontal stabs have to be attached, but it's either "tab A into slot B" or a couple of small screws to attach things. Five minutes of work if you're not in a rush.

Projects they're working on include 1:18 scale B-25, F-4C and MiG-21. 21st Century Toys News (http://www.21stcenturytoys.com/)

RXMAN,

not sure what you mean about the avenger... its been out for several months now. what you might have seen was George Bush sr's avenger that he flew in WWII.. that one is in production. but the "normal" production avengers, PLUS all of "FLIGHT 19- lost patrol" (whole squad of avengers that went missing in the pacific) is OUT... each of the 5 aircraft correct in serial numbers/pilots names and such.

in stock... heres the proof...
http://www.badcataviation.com/tbmavlsq1prj.html

the hellcat is in tooling stage or whatever. it will be out 2007/2008.

the F-4 phantom is comming out (chrimmas time)
and the B-25 is also comming out 07/08.

here is a good forum that i check into regularly for 1/18 scale aircraft, with the guys from the companies making them, stopping by to talk fairly often.

Booring. I like if they com with little pieces and no color. So i can build it and paint it up myself. I made my Hurricane over a month. I think that every hour when i work on it, it gets more and more valuable (and uglier http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif) .
