Guys,

Has anyone encountered any difficulty when trying to lower the landing gear on the Wildcat F4F? When I hit the G key, nothing happens. I can lower the flaps (at low speed), and I've bound a key for the landing hook, but I can't seem to set a key to lower the gear. Even setting a key for manually lowering the gear won't work. The G key works fine for the Corsair. It is pretty tough to belly land a F4F on the carrier and try catching the tail hook too. I have actually done it, but I'd rather do it with the landing gear down. Anybody got any suggestions?

Thanks

Mentioned in the readme and the manual.

You need to bind keys for manual gear lowering and raising. Its got a manual system instead of automatic so you need to be pushing many times.

Applies the F4F and the I-16 if you have IL2: FB as well.

In a nice nod to realism, you get to go through the pain in the *** work of lowering it manually.
Go in your control settings, and map keys for Raise Gear Manually, and Lower Gear Manually, problem solved http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Just be ready to press the button a lot.

Thanks guys. That explains why the bound keys "don't seem to work." I'm not mashing them enough times.

Heinrich- LOL. Yep, it takes about THIRTY key mashes each way to raise and lower the gear. Remember too, you have to map two DIFFERENT keys (I use Z and X,) it's not like you can map one key to do both things. Good luck, all the best, LongHorn

In theory, those with an X45 should be able to map the Aux switch to do it automatically. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Yep, already done that. Works like a charm...

Heh, i kinda like the manual lowering raising gear feature. I noticed that if I fly the B-25 sometimes the gear will not go down (I'm assuming from damage I've received) when I'm about to land. I'll frantically lower it manually.
