S!

Before anyone goes off on one im not whining and not reporting this as a patch bug unless others are experiencing the same. Just information gathering to see if others are also getting this problem.

I have resonable system. 1.33Ghz Athlon, 512 Mb Ram, Soundblaster 5.1 sound card. GForce 4 Ti4600 128mg Graphics card and ADSL broadband connection.

I NEVER play this game offline. I use either Hyperlobby or direct IP connection. I usually host the game.

Pre Patch I had several mini freezes, usually when I fired my guns for the first time, after that all was fine. Other in game stutters were caused by respawns, or simple overloading of my connection due to the number of players in a game, all these seemed reasonable and a minor distraction. The worst problem were people respawning when critical action was going on elsewhere.

Post patch this has got a lot worse, with mini freezes all the time action is going on. Also some freezes last several seconds which is intolerable in combat situations. Ive not ried anything yet as far as tryig to figure out what is causing it.

I have tried moving all players to areas where there are less ground objects and it seems to improve slightly. Tweeking sound settings does not seem to do much. In game pings from players seem reasonable.

I have no idea what causes it. It might be sound related, It might be graphics related, It might be connetion related. I run FB in OpenGL.

BTW, FYI. I had similar trouble with CFS3 as most people did, all these stutters were sound related and attributable to DX9.

Has anyone else had similar experiances with increased stutters and frame dropps since installing the patch ?

After only a few hours online last night, I have to agree. There are a number of possible explanations. One being that ALL planes were available and everyone was goofing around with all of them. Second, the traffic was much more erratic with players entering/exiting with more frequency. This was in the room I was flying and may not have been the case anywhere else. I'm sure we'll see as the weekend nears and players/hosts get there settings in place. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I'm getting stutters too. Even when fps are very high. I really hate patches that create problems.

tried changing from OpenGL to DX?
Works fine for me in DX, some stuttering in OpenGL.

might want to recheck your settings, make sure they didn't default.

Use custom video and turn most that stuff off - doesn't affect visuals.

Also - if running XP, might want to turn down your sound hardware ecceleration.

As an experiment, try with sound disabled and see if it's the same.

granted, the respawn pauses are still there and are aweful - but I haven't noticed any pauses while flying.
