Kimosabi, I'm assuming you saw this on the 1C:Maddox forum. And since you posted there after I had, I'll also assume you read my posting on the subject. However, just in case you didn't, I'll repeat what I posted there. This is a piece of fiction invented by the Daily Mail some time ago, and recycled on a regular basis. It has no grounding in fact. Here is what the BATTLE of BRITAIN MEMORIAL FLIGHT (http://www.raf.mod.uk/bbmf/news/index.cfm?storyid=3177BC8D-5056-A318-A877D2E906A0C1C6) website has to say on the issue:
<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content"> You may have seen the article in the Daily Mail today speculating about the future of the BBMF. Air Command have advised us that the potential demise of the BBMF as a cost saving measure is untrue;

There is no plan to cut any funding from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. We routinely review all spending to balance our resources and focus on the highest priority - operations in Afghanistan. A wide range of options are always considered in each annual planning round but not all of these are taken. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

There is already a thread in the 'Off Topic' forum on this, and we had the same story surface a few weeks ago. Do we really need another one?

Take it easy Andy this post is for general discussion.
When I post a new thread I dont search the topic to see if its already been done. Its what is on my mind I write it down. Unless Im looking for info then Ill search first. But if I find something I think is worthy Ill post it.

Dont want to jump on you for have been around for a while and I respect your opinion but its ok to see info posted few time's. Just move on if ya dont want to read. Otherwise I would have to start another thread about how crappy the P-51 is LOL.

I'd say it was probably good manners not to start a thread without checking first whether the topic was being covered. I'd also say that it would help to put the topic in the right forum - this doesn't relate to the IL-2 sim. Neither issue matters that much to me, but the way the topic was seemingly copied from one website to another without any attempt to verify the facts, and without apparently even taking note of the next posting in the thread (mine, where I quoted the BBMF refutation of the story) did on the face of seem somewhat careless. Having said that, my gripe isn't with Kimosabi, but with the Daily Mail, and If he feels offended by what I posted, I apologise. I was assuming he read my posting on the 1C:Maddox forum, perhaps he didn't.

On a more general level though, I stand by what I said. This 'story' keeps resurfacing, in spite of the BBMF refutation, on endless websites. Though I'm sure some (possibly most) of the postings are by people who genuinely believe the BBMF is under threat, I can't help suspecting that some of them are done in order to stir up trouble. I've seen enough media-inspired scare stories to recognise the tactic, and the Daily Mail specialises in this.

Nope, don't need another one. Could maybe have done better research beforehand but what's done is done. If the mods find it inappropriate or a waste of time, I bet it will be deleted pretty soon.

I don't get offended by cyber-debaters, AndyWest, but I do notice who's basically looking for arguments and vice versa.

No need for deletion, but as there's another thread on this in the Off Topic forum and it is off topic for this forum, I'll lock it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
