Hello,

I have been looking on these board for a while and I have seen a repetitive pattern going on. Some people seem to thing that Far Cry cannot run good on a FX 5200 or lower card. I can say that is not true due to personal experience.

I have a FX 5200 128mb and I can run Far Cry on the High setting no problem.
All I did was install the Omgea drivers. Boosted me from Medium settings (with some slowdowns) to High (no slowdowns at all). I must say that these drivers are a very cost effective way of getting the most out of your low end card.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but Omega drivers are a real help for anyone with low-end graphic cards.

Here are my Specs:
AMD XP 3200+
512 Megs DDR
80 GB HD
FX 5200 128mb

To be honest I very much doubt it, drivers can help but they don't turn your card into a 9800xt. Lets see some pictures with frame rates on.

Pentuim 4 2.8 with Hyper Threading (800FSB)
512 Meg RAM (400DDR)
Maxtor DIAMONDMAX 120Gb Hard Disk Drive
Leadtek FX5200 Graphics Card 256Meg
NTL 600k Broadband
-----------------------------
Pray for Competition. It makes you stronger.

Two things from Driver Heaven forum which could help you (don't use Omegas myself)

"Your running xp sp1a right?

Try to disable Windows File Protection
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/winlo...ion129121120120

You can disable the Warning by clicking on Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Driver Signing, click on Ignore, and then Ok."

so, you said that it isnt recomendable to use omega drivers?
one more thing do i have to remove the display drivers so i can install this thing or do i need the same version, because i a have the 56.72 and the omega said it is based on 53.03, do i need that version of the display driver or it doesnt matter?

Sure, if you go to your video card properties and turn texture and mipmap settings to lowest quality (resulting in using low-medium textures in game even though they are set to high).

Yeah, whatever.

I don't use Omegas as I didn't find any improvements from them, however each to their own. The fact they are based on very old Nvidia ones makes me steer clear too.

Apparently you don't need to uninstall your old drivers however either follow my advice above (which 'may' work, I have no idea) or totally uninstall your existing drivers and do a clean install of the Omega ones.

A full guide to uninstalling existing drivers is here:

Have fun.
