Hi,
I just thought I'd share my experience with Saitek, and am wondering if anyone else has had similar problems?
Anyway, as my Logitech stick started dying last week I eventually decided on a Saitek Aviator (AV8R), the price was about right and it has dual throttles, something I've been longing for.
Having heard nothing but good things about them I placed my order with Saitek USA last Friday morning.
All well, debit card was charged, and they send me the confirmation email stating that orders are usually shipped on the next business day (in this case Monday). On Tuesday I emailed them wondering whether or not my order had been shipped (orders@saitekusa.com, the e-mail they provided for inquiries about orders), as my old Logitech wasn't usable anymore. No reply as of yet, although I've emailed twice and to most e-mail addresses I could find on their website.
As e-mailing them didn't seem to work, I today called them. After two 'this number is not in use anymore' messages I finally reached a number that was up-to-date, and got to a 'you have reached us after business hours' message.
OK, so I call again when they're open.
Woo-hoo! Finally, I got to a machine asking me to press 0 for inquiries about orders, so I do.
Only to get to listen to some people chatting/joking and immediately hung up on when I say "Hello?". Tried calling again, same result.

Right now I'd cancel my order with them, if only I could get through to someone! The way they've handled my order isn't very professional IMO for a company that wants to sell its products...

Phew, got that out now...

Amazing how a few inconsiderate folks in customer service can sorely tarnish the entire company's reputation.

I'm wondering if Saitek doesn't read these boards? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Just got a highly apologetic letter from Saitek that they hadn't answered earlier, and that my AV8R had been shipped a long time ago and is out for delivery TODAY. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

We'll see when I get the stick, I might just change my attitude towards Saitek... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I just order reconditioned rudder pedals from them and placed the order on monday. Couple weeks ago. I kept checking for a tracking number over a few days. On thursday I called them and said that I am pissed off that these were a present and this kind of actions are not acceptable. Taking 4 days to even leave the dock is sad. Well they kept saying sorry and next day aired them to me so I got it friday afternoon.

So I suggest raising hell, you are paying money for decent service.

Wow, I'm shocked. I've ordered several things from thier refurbed site and had nothing but good come from it. I hope thier being purchase by madcatz isn't responsible for this.

I just ordered a Av8R to use as a throttle quad after my X-45 died on me... that was before I got an old one from a squadmate.. I replaced two of the pots and now I am back in business..

You never tried CH flight-gear then? They break the mould as far as customer support is concerned. Even the gent who wrote the software is publicly available to help with any and all requests for help and advice - as are the sales team and the hundreds of satisfied users right here. Sometime ago I 'blew' my X45 within 9 months and emailed Saitek to buy some more pots... 2 weeks later I got the 8 pots requested.. FOR FREE.

I fell over backwards because I stay over here.. bottom left corner.

From what I hear, the X45 rudder is a rocker switch -- not good for IL2.

BTW, pots can be cleaned with tuner spray.

I've been using the X45 for several years now without any problems at all. The Rocker Switch is the best part of it, IMO.

As far as the AV8R...It's a pretty inexpensive stick available at Bestbuy (US). Seems you could get a new one for around the same as a refurbished by the time you add shipping & handling.
