Well i'm dying to get my hands on this game.. =) It just looks amazing !!!

Question is.. I've been thinking of possibly upgrading my video card and possible my ram..

Here are my system specs...

AMD Athlon XP 3200+, 2.2 GHz
512 MB Pc2700 DDR Sdram
NVIDIA GeForce 4 Ti 4200 with AGP 8X , 128 MB

So would it be good to upgrade either ram or video card to get performance for when i buy this game.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm not really looking into high end cards... Thinking of spending about 200$ canadian on a card. ANy suggestion would be appreciated.

Hey Fazzx sorry to join you here but I have the same system as you barring ram which I have 738.

My Graphics card is the Nvidia fx5200 256 that came with system. All games run fine except RTW on huge armies.

I have a spare 128 9600 ATI compliant card sorry I dont know exact model. Maybe a Hercules.

Someone has said I should swap as the ATI would perform better than the 256. Is he right?

Try to find out if your 9600 is an XT or a Pro.

Though I'm pretty sure the ATI is probably the faster card either way.

I agree with ark. The 5200 I dont believe is better than the 9600(xt or pro)

How's the 9800 Pro rank among those? I just installed one on my system.

While I finalize the parts for my "new" gaming computer I was wondering if the card in my work assigned CAD computer would support the game, from what I know about it, it does have full DX9 support but is not on the list of SH3 supported cards, I was wondering if that's going to be a problem, it's a 3d Labs Wildcat Realizm 200.

I got a Sapphine Radeon 9600 with 256MB.
Currently running my desktop in 1280x1024 resolution. This card costed around $158 Canadian.

will this card and 1024Megs of RAM (1.024Gigs) be enough to run Silent hunter with full detail settings ?

It's the cpu that's really holding you back. Sims have alot of geometry, physics, and such to contend with. Also as we begin (finally) to have photo-real visuals in games, our vid cards need as much ram as our PC.

High quality graphics require massive amounts of information moved extremely quickly between HD-RAM-CPU-GFX- monitor.

Or else you get stuttering.

With 1gb of ram on GFX, high graphic settings can be stored on card and performance signficantly improved.

The code for LOMAC sucks donkey nuts.

That's the problem with that game.

9700 AIW Pro. I figure I'll update when they double the specs on mine and its under $400. I'll do my processor once AMDs 64 series gets alittle better for gaming. I bought a great case and the best available soundcard at the time so I won't have to do them for a long time.

I'm not upgrading my processor till the dual cores come out.

Or maybe the next evolution from AMD.

I am gutted now.

NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 250 4 1000 1 4 1000 400 128 6.4
ATI Radeon 9200 250 4 1000 1 4 1000 400 128 6.4

Both the same and both rubbish.

The ATI is a prophet 128 9200 DD

and the FX is a 5200 256.

Can anyone spot any hidden features one may have above the other.

They suit me for most games but now I am worried after looking at the benchmark results.

Maybe I better sell these to some noobs and buy a better one all together. Will know for sure in 10 days, if it works on sh3 and does not cause too much lag I will keep what I have.

Yeah, just try them out when the game arrives and see what happens.

I would be inclined to think that you won't be able to run any FSAA or AF though.

Thanks for the replies.

You feel for me lol

I have a neighbour who is absolutely mad about SH2. His pc is next to his bed. I had to break the news to him that he will not be able to run the game. Watching a 40 year old nearly break into tears was sad.

Get a GeForce 6600 128mb AGP for 150 and then later get 1gb RAM.
