I just got the game and am having a problem. I start one of the dyanmic campaigns, shoot down 5-6 planes, get the mission complete, and land to a full stop. I then press ESC and choose "quit mission". The debrief screen comes up telling me how wonderful I am.

The problem is that I cannot seem to find the way to advance to the next mission! Any ideas?

At the bottom the only butons I see are main menu, save track, and refly. Based on the picture in the little book that came with the game there should also be a 4th button.

In other words, is there some other way to end the mission where it will count as a success?

Thanks for the help

If you have no instant success with the light on in the difficulty menu then you have to complete the mission, primary, secondary or hidden, hidden usually comes up when you successfully land back at your base. There should be another button that says apply, and that will lead you to the next mission. Be sure to at least get the primary done. If you uncheck instant success you will automatically get primary mission complete at the start of the mission.

Complete Mission > Land > Esc > Quit > Apply. If any of these steps cannot be accomplished, please consult the download section and dl all available patches. If that was already done, scream loudly for help, because I can't give you any http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

EDIT: Oooh, so the issue are hidden objectives? As far as I understand it, all you need to do to be able to apply changes to your campaign is at least complete/fail your objective and then land -- on your wheels, belly or two (hopefully both are still attached http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ) feet. If you have to do any of the three before mission is either failed or completed, wait for the remainder of your flight to do that for you and then quit. Now, as was said, there should be a "hidden objective completed" game announcement that really indicates that you can progress after landing. If it doesn't come up, you're in trouble. You don't need to succesfully accomplish the mission...however, at the very least you must get those two (mission completed/failed and "hidden objective completed" on landing) messages before being able to advance anywhere.

Thanks, that is something like how I thought it was supposed to work.

Does that mean that the ground controller saying "mission accomplished" is not always accurate? In other words he is announcing only on of the goals but may be leaving some of the goals out here are neccessary to advance?

you dont need the hidden objective complete messages, to continue on, they are more like bonuses, like landing safely, or at least on your lines, or shooting down the enemies recon plane(or somthing to that affect) if you spot it(and if there is one there http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif ). Dont get the message from the pilots confused with the actual completion, pilots will say 'mission complete, just like the movies, lets go home', this does not complete the mission UNLESS you the 'Primary Objective Complete" or Secondary Objective Complete' and depending on how the situation of the mission was the hidden objective sometimes wont let you continue.(they are bonuses like I said before)

Alright, now I think I have it. I will have to **** around some more and see if I can't get it to move forward.

Thanks for all the help with my silly newbie question! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Some of what you are or are not seeing is dependent upon if you have no instant success checked in your campaign difficulty.

Say for example you have no instant success and the mission generated is a base transfer. You are required to not only get at least one transport plane to the new airfield intact but also must land and come to a full stop before the mission completed message will appear.

After those words appear on screen you can then hit the esp. key and hit apply or refly if your not satisfied with your performance.

AFAIK actually FAILING the mission and landing somehow still allows you to continue. All you have to do is to fail/complete primary objectives and get yourself alive down on the ground. So far that worked for me every time. Not sure what would happen if, say, you were to bomb a ground objective and didn't find it, though.
