If you haven't installed it yet, do it ASAP...

PF single player is greatly enhanced by the work done on its stock campaigns. I did a test run as a USMC pilot at Wake and it made sense!

Hopefully no more Hayabusas defending Guadal etc.

Good thinking that you brought out this patch so soon.

Thanks again...back to Wake!

Whats new:
1. Iwo, Chichi, Okinawa, Wake operations added to USMC career.
2. New Guinea aded to USAAF career.
3. Midway removed as USAAF operation.
4. Some plane choices are changed.
5. P-38 can be used in Japan 1945 operation

Some of fixes and improvements in this version:

1. Wrong objects in final missions in case of PF stand alone install
2. Wrong airfield in New Guinea
3. Crashes in mountains in New Guinea.
4. Crash in second Midway mission when using Hard campaign difficulty
5. Collisions of Rufe at Iwo when using High Air Intensity
6. Wrong objects on some maps.
7. Guadalcanl NGen campaign did not work when selecting Hellcats as bombers.
8. Occasional start on water when moving to Iwo map
9. Text corrections

Shouldnt the beta tester have caught such obvious errors? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

After backing up all files placed these in the PF folder but all i got was a constant screen of a flight of F4Fs,and had to reboot to start over...Did I install incorrectly or is there a major bug.

I had the same problem at first, but you have to write the directories OVER the old ones, since they only complement or change a number of original files in the ngen and dgen directories.

So to be safe.

Copy dgen.exe in the main game directory.

Copy the dgen and ngen directories.

Extract the new dgen into the main game directory. It will overwrite the old dgen.exe and do the same to a number of files in the dgen and ngen directories.

You won't get a new ver. number.

One good test is to try a new campaign as a USMC pilot in Wake.

If it works, you did it the right way.

HOWEVER I'd certainly backup the mentioned files and directories, so you can go back to your previous game state if you need to (or when another patch comes out).

IMHO this patch was very welcome and improves the original (single-player) game to a great extend.

Again I'd like to thank the Dgen creator(s).

Was hoping for him to show up and take over the tread!!

Silly me, I spotted a first mention of this patch hidden in a post and thought it to be some third party fix, yet it appears to be an official patch which is listed in the (old) general forum.

Sorry for the wasted bandwidth, but OTOH that sticky would have been better of in the PF-forum, right?

Regard this as a bump...

Thanks PF-team for reacting to our worries and answering some complaints as early as possible. IMHO this fix will go a long way to safeguard against scaring new buyers away and to strengthen the original release.

KUDOS and THANKS

EDIT:

MODERATORS WE NEED A STICKY POST HERE ON THE PF FORUM!!

The update to the DGEN component does not change the game version.
Follow Ruy Horta's thorough instructions to apply it.

I've tried it out with the RAAF Beaufighter campaign in New Guinea - no more squadrons vanishing into mountain sides. Definitely looking good so far.
