It`s a typical German stock model, easily the most luxurious amongst Russian aircraft.

Kommandogerat, leather, full radio set, climatronic and advanced compass as standard.

You are a little confused here actually.

Polikarpov was probably the first designer to experiment with a ducted spinner for a radial engine. It an effort to streamline the frontal area of the radial engine while still providing adequate air cooling. Kurt Tank tried the same thing for the prototype FW190 and was almost certainly influenced by the Russian design.

It was a very good idea IMO, but neither Focke-Wulf nor Polikarpov was able to make it work properly. Focke-Wulf used a NACA cowling and IMO came up with a rather brilliant alternate way of cooling it with as little drag as possible.

I've read that Kurt Tank was quite impressed with and likely influenced by the gorgeous Hughes racer:http://www.airminded.net/h1/h2b_11oc.jpg

There was a late war map once on UKD2 map, with flyable dora on red side, amongst La7, Yak9U, Yak3. La7 with D9 on same side is virtually unbeatable combination. Impossible to outdive, outturn, outrun, outclimb...
