Does anyone know if you get more renown for sinking a given class or type of ship in your patrol area as opposed to just stumbling across one somewhere else? I know there are points invloved with spending the 24 hours in the area, I'm just trying to figure out if it pays to blow-off the patrol area from the get-go and just go to areas where I expect to find lots of targets?

It's been my experience that you will get less renown for not going to your PZ and completing the 24 hr patrol. The ships are all scored the same no matter where they are so it would be to your benefit to complete the patrol.

You get set renown for each unit destroyed.

You get set renown for reaching your patrol, staying 24 and going home.

Whether or not the ships you sink are actually in your patrol zone at the time makes no difference whatsoever.
