Those of you using TrackIR 4, is there a 'best' profile you are using for PF? Where can I download it? Thanks

I have been using the stock "combat flight" profile with no problems at all.

Also note that a new version of the software was recently released as a patch.

Same here...I dunno, if you're having problems with the sensor not picking up your head movements, make sure you don't have any lights or reflective surfaces behind you. Had a devil of a time trying to figure out why my head movements weren't being tracked when I first set it up, turns out it was a just light on behind me.

As for getting used to...it takes some time, but once you get the hang of it you'll wonder where you were with out it, haha.

Actually, it works fine, but with all the different adjustments that can be made, I thought I would try to find a good profile already optimized for PF then make some slight adjustments to suit myself.

i created my own. tracking = vector and just used 30 smoothing on all axis and set one of my joystick buttons for hotkey centering. nice and smooth for me with little deadzone center.

i recenter my view 2 different ways.
for regular flight i tip my head up a little and recenter. helps see the instruments better.

when dogfighting, i lower my head slightly and recenter. this helps me see up and behind easier.

after resuming head to normal level these favor what i want to see with less head movement.

I just got TrackIR 4 today and am searching for info for what I have to to with PF and FB-AEP-PF Merged to prepare the game itself for TIR. I'm sure that I need to remove the hat funtions I set up in my Saitek X52 profile for the 45 deg up views, but is there anything else I have to do with the game itself? Do I have to do anything like "tweaking" or adding a file to the root folder?

Just reading this I've learned something already - no lights behind me. (gotta rearange room lighting http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif )

And BTW for any of you who have or just got an X52, I downloaded 2 TrackIR capable profiles from: http://www.saitekforum.com/showthread.php?t=8394 to use as a guide in re-profiling mine. I hope this info can help someone...

Just plug it in and use it.

That's all I did.

I have now reassigned my hat views to other functions, but it was not necessary.

Make sure that your conf.ini file has enabled TrackIR. Look in this section:

trackIRUse=1 <----- this should be 1

Thanks: I checked and TIR is enabled in both stand alone and merged inatalls http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif . With my hats free I now need to do some rearanging of the stick profile but that should go quick.

Thanks again
