View Full Version : Bomb fuse delay on divebombing flattops, both IJN and USN

When diving onto an IJN flattop, what should be the best fuse delay? I love dropping the pickle using the UNS's SBD's (slow but deadly). But not sure of the bomb model. Should the fuse be 0 sec and contact explode on the deck, or a second or two for the below decks? Could it be set too long and not go off optimumly in the hull? (like skip bombing?)

It SHOULD be delay fused, but delay fuses do no damage at all to ships in Il-2/PF so you must set it to ZERO.

As Tater says, any warhead being used against a ship must have a fuse setting of 0 seconds. This also applies for torpedoes.

It is due to the way the IL2 engine handles collision detection - a bomb with a delay set will pass completely through the target. Overpressure damage (a major factor in ship destruction) caused by near misses or bombs exploding under the vessel is not modelled - so your bomb/torpedo has to explode the instant it reaches the target.

Just make sure no one is following you too closely when you drop bombs or that you don't get too low. That'll make one heck of a mess http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
