Ar-234 (http://rrgstudios.com/)

Looks like the Ar-234 is coming with the '46 add-on.

Seeing as the Arado is actually a 1944 aircraft, I wonder if this will be compatible to add to the 1944 planeset http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It would also be great if they model the Ar-234C with 4 engines.

Thanks for teh link. This game is going to be good for years, yet! And is that a Korean War add-on - I refer to the "untitled add-on"? Hmm.

Wow...that looks fantastic!

Ar-234, IL-10...a Korea addon probably...VERY cool.

I demand a Hawker Sea Fury for Korea http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

A Korean addon would be very welcome if it is indeed the "mystery standalone", especially if they tweak the LOD visibility to actually make it playable without icons.

Crossing my fingers.

Korea add-on not just a pipe dream? IceFire? Don't get my hopes up (but do get my hopes up).

Couldn't possibly be Korea. I thought everyone knew that this is the insignia of the Lutonian Air Force.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v460/goshikisen/855c96fb.jpg

Probably an add on that covers Lutonia's protracted war with Togoland.

ok, those other planes in the screenies of the 46 addon are a Mig-9, IIRC the first pure jet fighter the VVS introduced into service, and the Mig I-250, a composite engined fighter that served in limited numbers as a potent interceptor thanks to its phenomal climb rate.
as for the pit, I cannot say which bird this belongs to, but my bet is one of the above mentioned types.

Funny thing is, that is the Kremlin Star, it was not used much, only very early in the war (WW2), but the rest is the United States national marking from 1947 onwards...

Korea makes sense in a way, however... It may be something more hypothetical. Say the Cold War went hot in the early 60s... or perhaps Vietnam

Hmmmm...

Long time lurker , first time post because this subject interests me so much.

I'm guessing the untitled addon is the early Taiwan - China conflict. LA9, P-51 (both sides!), P-38, F-84, F-86, Yaks, Mig15, etc. Basically, almost everything in the Russian and American WWII inventories plus jets! It would be more balanced than Korea because it had more types of aircraft for both sides.

My 2 cents...

I can't wait to get in the seat of the 234. I had a lot of fun flying that in Aces Over Europe.

Not to mention it being added in a pack with some other jet aircraft means it won't get banned on every online server http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

Of course, Soviets early jets (for ex. Mig9) used german engines (BMW003,Jumo004, RD10, RD20 respectively), so any fantasy scenario LW/VVS '46 would pure ....well FANTASY http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The Ar 234B2 looks nice - but will probably be a disappointment in-game. You have to bear in mind that it was mostly used for high speed reconnaissance ie it was unarmed. It was tried as a bomber but found to be ineffective - when carrying bombs its speed reduced so much it could be caught by piston engined fighters and shot down. Good looking though.

Trust me, it will not be a dissapointment, don't count on it being so easy to catch and two rear mg151/20 will not make catching easy.
Besides in the book I have it says 735km/h@6000m and 705km/h@SL so when you do your job(drop the payload) you can count on a nice chance to escape.
I hope a proper(11lbs boost) Tempest will come soon http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Now Roland, we all know that Kurfy has clearly demonstrated the lack of requirement for a German four engined heavy during World War Two. Luftwaffle He-111s were more than adequate for the destruction of Detroit and the Lake Baikhal industrial complex, and were instrumental in The Reich's eventual victory.

Nuff said.

By the way, what's an Fw-190? Some new Deutsch wunder weapon?

mynameisroland
04-24-2006, 08:03 AM
Legend has it that the Fw 190 A4 was the best WW2 piston engined fighter until the Bf 109 G6 replaced it with the all round superior performance that was inherrent in all of Willy's products http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

it carried the bombs externaly, didnt it?
so with bombs on, i dont think it was *that* quick.

and they dont wanna do 'nam, cos there wasnt much hero dogfighting there, was there?

JG53Frankyboy
04-24-2006, 08:47 AM
well, flying a Ar234 in ~4000-5000m , even with the external bombs - its a fast one , and if a piston fighter is engaging, first dive with bombs - it will be fast http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
if not fast enough , you can still make an emergency drop - you will propably not destroy your target, but sure survive and come again. and that counts in the real days of a war !

ploughman
04-24-2006, 08:53 AM
Vietnam also introduces the nightmare of guided missiles, laser guided bombs and all manner of techno-geekery that may be beyond this sim to reproduce. If not Korea, then maybe, as has been suggested, a Cold War gone hot 'what if.'

Tantalising stuff.

Hmm, if we're goint to get Korea, then I'd wanna see (besides jets) some hi-performance prop-planes also, the already mentioned Sea Fury, F7F, maybe F8F (even it saw no service there), F4U-4/5/AU-1 Corsairs (those are beasts), F-82 Twin Mustang (yeeahaa), AD-1 Skyraider, B-26 Invader and of course the russian monsters La-9 (4xNS-23 guns), La-11 and Yak-3 with M-107 engine.

BTW does anybody know what kind of bombers North Korea used in that war? Il-10 off course but did they use Tu-4s or Tu-2s or what?

there already is a good vietnam-cold war sim in the form of Strike Fighters project 1 and wings over vietnam. they are excellent, and have a huge amount of user made stuff. they stand alone but you can export the planes, ships, maps etc from one to the other. the vietnam one has carrier ops well done in it. You wont believe the use made cmpns for it to. Alot of support from both publisher and community. Id fly it more if i just had time.
