I believe you can only taunt during a fight.

Sweet. I didn't know that!

Yeah during a fight sequence, you can press the Head Button (Y/triangle) to taunt the enemies. This will probably make the enemies more aggressive, and we all know that it takes a calm and careful man to kill 10 people... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

You can do the same on your good old copy of AC I, there are plenty of better things to look forward to...

I thought this was known since way back at E3. You can see it in quite a few videos too, and for those that want to know, the button to press is Y (on Xbox)

I hope that it is the last detail I didn't know about AC ONE... Seriously, maybe there was no surprise about the storytelling mechanic during the game, but there was A LOT of surprises during the game about gameplay mechanics...

(I learned the difference between "catching ledge" and not catching them only few weeks/months ago... I didn't really knew about that... Same thing for hidden blade counter-attack and the combo hits)

I don't believe you actually could taunt in AC1. I'll have to boot it up later and see.

Wait, wut? Hidden blade counter attack?

phimo123-FR
11-11-2009, 11:18 AM
Yep... When you start a fight with anybody, once you locked the enemy, choose your hidden blade (even if you locked the enemy with the hidden blade, you'll still have the choose the hidden blade again). After that, it is the same procedure as for any other counter-attack... Just wait for the guards to attack you and push the "counter-attack button" at the right time.

The animations are cool.

I think he means if you press B in combat while holding RT, Altai points at the current glowing target. At least thats the closest to taunting I've seen him do.

No, you can't taunt in AC1, that's why I asked "What?" to his post. If you press X (or square) while holding down the right trigger Altair waves his sword around in a taunting way, that's it.

I think the person saying that you could taunt in AC 1 may have meant when Altair steps in to save the many, many women being harassed.

The player couldn't taunt, but by locking onto one of the special soldiers, Altair would spout out some threats/challenges/taunts, if I recall the translations correctly.

That is called counter. I suggest that you kill on the roofs so you won't get noriety and get caught just by walking on the street.

JUST A TIP

It's a counter when someone is attacking you, but he waves his sword when no one is attacking you.

No, if you lock on to an enemy and press Circle (Or B), Altair will point to the enemy as if he is saying "you".

I'm fairly certain thats just him trying to grab someone, and not reaching.

He isn't though, cos you do it in high profile (defense) and free hand button. Altair actually points to the soldier. It can be seen clearly in one of the trailers for AC1, the one with "Lonely Souls" being played.

(Sorry I'm late)
For taunting I mean if you press (PS3) R1 I think and O when he doens't grab you Altiar points someone out

That's just a failed grabbing attempt. Gonna give those hidden blade counters a try though. They sound sexy.

How can it be a failed grabbing attempt when high profile free-hand button is grab counter? In advance, how can his grab counter fail if Altair hasn't been grabbed in the 1st place? It's a taunt.

SpyderNynja

Proven to be a taunt. Altair CLEARLY points at the guard. Go play the game again and see for yourself.
