View Full Version : Weapon Concealing Cape

This might not be important to some people but in 1:20 of this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiMYwqi6Rco I noticed that Ezio is not equipped with a sword just a dagger

http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b184/MitsuhideKyuzo/DAGGER.jpg

It's great news because I was annoyed that in AC1 you have so many weapons equipped that it was easy to tell if you were an assassin but with the addition of the halfcape and now being able to unequip all weapons it's more realistic to blend in now.

I was bothered by that sword sticking out.

I hope they take to account the cape thing maybe they could have a button that makes Ezio conceal his weapons with his cape and that would affect how much he would blend or having bigger weapons that aren't completely concealed by the cape would also affect your blending.

BUT maybe my hopes were wrong and that hammer can just replace your sword not really unequip it.

that's because he can drop his sword, like you can carry around a hammer too, but he probably just dropped it so he can go faster

You can see him pull the cape over his sword at 1:47 on this clip...

it seems automatic in the video.

Yeah, it's Ezio's idling animation to fling his cape over his shoulder after moving rapidly.

From what I have understood and heard - weapons are optional, you can have some smaller ones always with you, or you can leave them in the shop and stick with your hidden blades & fists.

Xanatos, when you played it did you see anything about keeping weapons with you for later use?

Ezio always sheathes his sword after a fight (like Altair) but if he disarmed an opponent he automatically drops the weapon after a fight. You can pick up weapons again as well.

This time around, our main hero isn't leaving on a land of war and holy crusades, so most of his equipment is concealed.

You'll find and use lots of weapons during your missions, but you could also purchase different types and quality of weapons. Not mentioning the crazy killing device that Leonardo will provide.

So yes, you will look more low profile... Unless you'll do your best to have every single armour and weapons upgrades on yourself... I'll give it a try http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I just wanna point out that in the middle ages it wasn't uncommen for normal ppl to be carrying weapons, to them it probably just looked like Altair was a little over-equipped/paranoid

An hidden gun that shoots poisoned bullets http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Poison bullets; Overkill?

And why do people announce how many posts they have? If anybody cared then they would point it out for you.

If you don't like me celebrating my posts, just ignore me.

About the poison bullets, imagine that you shoot a bullet to the middle of a templar meeting, releasing some poison that would kill the templars...

I don't think that's overkill http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

thekyle0
10-08-2009, 06:51 PM
Why would you need a bullet to do that? If Ezio could use a poison cloud weapon then it would have to resemble the smoke bombs. It would crack when you tried to shoot something like that out of the hidden gun and everything would just spray out of the barrel. That's more of a hazard to Ezio then the Templars. Not that it would be possible to squeeze that much air into a tiny metal ball anyway.

consider the earliest guns where basicly using controlled explosions I doubt neither a poison coated bullet nor a poison gas containing one would work

if coated the heat would just evaporate the poison and the other kind would be to fragile shattering in the gun.

in the end if you want poison delivered in the times of AC2 then blades, dart and bows are the best choices.

EmperorxZurg
10-08-2009, 06:59 PM
not to mention that the bullet might make a crack when it's being loaded or when it's shot, thus harming Ezio

Velvit

It is dangerouse. Its on his arm so he should be careful

I hope the crossbow that was scraped for AC1 makes a proper appearance, as much as the wrist gun is cool I rather see it as a tool for when Im already spotted and running from guards then something I would use during a assassination (as I assume the game is at least realistic enough that shooting that gun makes people from several meter nearby go WT*)

EmperorxZurg
10-08-2009, 07:13 PM
but it raises the stakes almost 50% by having those bullets, wrist guns HAVE been used before, in fact there was one found in Northern Italy that was aProxy-Connection: keep-alive
Cache-Control: max-age=0

un that strapped to someones wrist with the trigger bent so u could reach it without looking some freak who "scratched" the underarm, and other guns that was activated by a push trigger{punch basically} like in Quentin Tarantino's "Inglorious Basterds"

@remmus: sorry but the devs said no crossbow

Poison-tipped bullets only work with hollow-points anyway, Ezio's gun uses musket balls.

Airadan
10-08-2009, 11:34 PM
Poison-tipped bullets useless anyway why would they need poison in them when the allready have a bullet in there skull?? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

Xanatos2007

Same reason they have poisoned daggers; if you only end up wounding your prey the poison can do the rest. And there have been instances of people surviving headshots.

NoxieDC
10-09-2009, 12:41 AM
If you can take the time to shoot someone and realize he's still alive, I think you can still stab him in the neck.
What's the survivability rate on that?

Xanatos2007

Fixed that for you.
And the survival rate of a human being stabbed in the throat is fairly close to the survival rate being hit in the head with modern bullets. Lower than the chance of surviving a musket ball to the head.

I recommend decapitation. Blindness within 10 seconds max, and brain-death within 30. Zero survival rate. Well-aimed hollowpoint to the head is even faster.

Knife attacks are more efficient...

Kidney thrust: Death in 30 seconds, no help from man can prevent it. Very painful.
Subclavian artery thrust: Death in 3 seconds.
Jugular thrust: Death in 12 seconds, unconsiousness in 5.
Heart thrust: Death in 3 seconds, unconsiousness is instant.

what do you mean you'll give it a try? my idea?

I mean I don't think you'd need to do any new animations for it just a suggestion. I feel encouraged to make after hearing about the team listening to the suggestions posted in the forum.

Maybe Leonardo can make some dummy rounds.

You know, those ones that explode the head upon impact.

You mean 'dumdums', dummy rounds are replica bullets for army drills (chamber clearing, etc).

You didn't watch In Bruges by any chance, did you?

'Dum dums' are hollow point and soft point bullets, which are found on cased ammunition (and the one case-less well-known modern firearm which isn't being produced so why bother mentioning it). Bullets that were used in Flintlocks, Wheellocks, Matchlocks, etc. all used lead bullets- which expand upon impact.
