Will the 2 new add ons from Mr. Maddox be available in a box? or are they download only? Also, what are the version #'s of each? (witch one is patch 4.06)? Thanks!!

I don't know about you, but the box art on the news page certainly suggests something to me. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

That box on the front page better not be the only way. There is no way i am buying the entire game again. Surely they will come out with a stand alone version to download.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

By the time you pay for the 2 add ons as download you'd be better off buying the whole game.

It REALLY IS that good of a deal.

I can imagine you feel cheated, and can understand it, but this DVD release has so much going for it that I think it's silly NOT to buy it.

Do a search to find out exactly what is included, (there's plenty of posts) and then draw your own conclusion.

If we were being charged an unfair amount without the added bonuses of maps, planes, airplane reference manual, preview of BoB, then I'd grudgingly agree not to purchase this whole new DVD. As it stands the additions alone are worth the cost.

OK, sound like a good buy, but here's a better question: where to buy it? I checked amazona and came up with nada, and I don't think ubi.com has it eather... Thanks for the responses!

gogamer.com is selling it. Jason's the guy who's been taking care of the U.S. market.

He's trying to get Canada raken care of too.

I ordered mine for $39.00 ish. We're still awaiting release around the 15th of December or so.

You object to paying for the add-ons and having everything else in the whole series, plus possible bonus material thrown in for free? Weird.

Seriously. We're talking 17.99, including postage, for the whole kit and caboodle. What's not to like?

AFAIK there'll be 2 ways to get the stuff:

-Buy each addon as a download, just like Pe-2
-Get that 1946 DVD, which costs just some 30?, which is as much as the 2 single download addons. But you'll have the whole series on one disc plus nice stuff (making of videos, new BoB stuff and that 450pages aircraft compendium). This one can also be installed over an existing installation of FAP (FB+AEP+PF). Don't know if it also needs Pe-2 installed though.

Nobody is asking you to buy it again. The add-ons will be available for download individually, just like Pe-2. It's no secret

I believe that the Pe-2 add-on is included.

From the front page:
<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">
1946 includes:
The PE-2 campaign
The Sturmoviks over Manchuria campaign
The 1946 campaign (after one we name the product)
A detailed 450 pages long Plane Guide (in UK only)
Exclusive videos making of videos (in UK only)
Exclusive glance at Storm of War? Battle of Britain

And also
Il-2 Forgotten Battles
Ace Expansion Pack
Pacific Fighters
All the latest patches

's good to be in the UK. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

the '46 add-on contains all previous content, as described http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif This means that it will install the sim up to v4.07

You need 4.05 to get 4.06, and you need 4.06 to get 4.07. It's always worked this way. the '46 DVD has Pe-2. It has everything up to 4.07

DVD includes everything from FB to VVS 1946

FB+AEP+PF+Pe-2+SoM+VVS1946

Also, you will be able to download Pe-2 (4.05), SoM (4.06) and VVS 1946 (4.07) VIA bootybox http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

So if it includes the Pe-2 campaign as explicitly new content, it can be installed over any existing FB-AEP-PF installation. That will leave the settings untouched. A completely new installation would overwrite it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Also A nice plus to the new DVD is re-installs image the ease of one DVD instead of searching and installing all the patches. That alone is worth it to me http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

And my only wish is it won't be sold in DVD standard plastic box only, with the sticker that is displayed on PF homepage inserted as cover. That would suck. I don't want another DVD movie packing http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Exactly.... youwill be able to buy each individual add on via download.. but here's the thing.... the cost of both add ons individually will be the same as the cost of the 46 add on. Basically what is being done is both add ons are being bundled and sold as one.... and as a courtesy all previous content is being bundled in as well. I paifd full price for each part of 4.05. FB+AEP+PF+Pe-2..... thats $130 over 4 years (Not to mention $49 for the original IL2).... and I have no problem shelling out the final $40...... If I had a choice between being in on this thing practically from the beginning and coming in after the fact at a discount.... Ill take the 4 years any day. The money spent divided by the time played factor comes to @$.14 a day....<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

You clearly need more time in your day, Bearcat. 14 cents a day is too high. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

It's amazing when you break it down to cost per day. I'm happy! Heck a cup of Dunkin Donuts is 2 bucks, and I ......... um..... well go through that in an hour. LOL

All PC games/sims are sold in DVD-style cases nowadays!

I don't think the case is important. I buy Sturm'46, tear away the shrink-wrap, install from the DVDs, see if there's anything useful in the manual, then put the box on the shelf for the next 5 years. DVD cases are cheaper than cardboard ones, and I'm glad they can keep the costs down/profits up by using the DVD case!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
