To the best of my understanding:

X-1 is a theiving company that takes user made mods free for download, packages them and sells them for profit. Intellectual pirates basically but they're technically not breaking any laws.

I would never buy from then when they're making profit on the blood a sweat of our talented modders who do it only for the love of the game and community.

Yeah, looks like another rip off of GW's Mediterranean style. Its funny to read the list of "Special Features", especially when these idiots forgot what was in the stock game. Look at this

New objects: search lights, bunkers, minefields and air defences

Don't know about the bunkers, but search lights and minefields have always been there. And what the hell are "air defences". Sheesh...

T2 that is BS.
This expansion is there own stuff from out of the box.
I beta tested it and all the new stuff was (then ) not available anywhere else.
The 40 plus ships the campaigns etc are not GW and in the Med are vastly superior to Grey Wolves.
It also offers the simple plug and play advantage some might prefer.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions as to add free mods and tweak as we many do but to wrongly claim the content of this add on is stolen is an out and out lie.
It is easy to have multi-installs and having this to run out of Salamis will be worth the small price one pays.
If not that is an opinion but what you are saying is not opinion, it is simply inaccurate and wrong.

RealWulfann you have, I'm sad to say, gone down in my estimation.
Not only have you beta tested for a company we on the on the SH3 forum despise, then using comments like 'vastly superior to Grey Wolves' is only getting to get peoples backs up. You're off my Xmas card list.

Personally, I ain't paying a cent or a dime. Everything this 'release' offers is, or will be, in time, a free download mod. Are you hoping to get commision on the sales? sheesh. Man you should be ashamed.

Ahem, Quote from that site:

quote:

The greatly expanded campaign covers a period from May 1941 to the Allied invasion of Italy in 1943, including hundreds of historical convoys, task forces and re-supply activity.
Designed to extend the Silent Hunter world into the Mediterranean theatre and Black Sea, this expansion provides new bases, new harbours and many hours of excitement in the silent service. In addition to approximately forty new cities (each with anchored ships), random surface activity includes British and Italian submarines, as well as battleships like the Scharnhorst and Gneisenau, while engagement zones afford an opportunity to participate in classic sea battles, e.g. the battle of Sirte.

Sounds a LOT like GW to me, some of the stuff might be new, but it loogs the same. Also,

44 new ship classes, including three new models
New sub bases at Salamis, Constantza and Taranto
More than thirty new cities, including ports and industry
New naval and airbase locations, including new base types in Med
New objects: search lights, bunkers, minefields and air defences
Special "engagement zones"
New paint schemes for Type VII boats
Improved night vision and new particle effects
Sonar fix for destroyers
Leigh lights for Catalina and Sunderland
Stationary ships that spawn according to campaign dates
New Task Force activity including historical engagements
Escorts out of hazardous harbours where minefields are in place
Maps showing Allied air coverage

That's a nice little conglomerate of mods from U-boot.realsimulation.com....
That started me thinking... are the "bros" that hacked that site somehow related to our friends in X-1? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

I use DVD and I know that the "Good o'le USA" is #1 and Europe is #2 sector.
So that might be a factor in the playability of the mods!
I am going to buy it, 12.99 won't get my bank manager involved I hope, just to mod the mod and addons as I always have and so get the best of both worlds.
I ain't a turn coat guys and good luck and thanks to the GreyWolves team for an excellent job.
I just want the best of the best thats out there.

I am sure if the entire truth was known we would all be making honest opinions and not ignorant attacks that are baseless which is what this is.
I doubt you mean ill but simply stating you are ignorant of this mod in comparison to GW.
I only said it was vastly superior to GW "In the Med", not in the Atlantic.
I am sure if you played it you would agree. There are still things I saw and did in their Med I have not seen anywhere else.
I get no commission and never asked for one. I am not part of their company in any way.

Most modders will not pay a cent if only because we enjoy doing the modding so they are not seeking your money.
The bigger part of the SH3, the part that never post but just likes to play and does not mod will buy this game by the thousands.
It has not taken any material from any site. I have it or the beta and know this as a fact.
Anyone that wants to insist they have might consider not being able to prove false accusations could have consequences legally.
If I were so attacked unfairly, I would so consider it.

I might add the few ships that are similar like Scharnhorst, are completely different files. I know the SW was done first but the others had no knowledge when they made theirs. SW never accused them of stealing it either.
Ironic X-1 now takes the higher ground.
Funny how things reverse!

As for the Xmas card, well, I learned long ago from thousands of hours of providing freeware no one helps you paint the house or move the piano.
I beta tested SW-Med and advised them on historic matters because I knew if it was more successful our community increased its chances for SH4 (which since happened) and the series going further after that. I would rather have my standing among the ignorant to be lower in a series that continues.

So what? does this mean that the SHIII EXP only deals with the medditeranian? You can't Go any where else?

"So what? does this mean that the SHIII EXP only deals with the medditeranian? You can't Go any where else?"

Not at all.
It adds campaigns out of Constanza, Rumania in Type IIs, and out of Salamis, Greece and Taranto, Italy on Type VIICs. It still has the Atlantic stuff like before but their bigger effort was to make things for the Med which is now much more active.
There is also much more air activity in the Med on the Axis side.
I remember finding a small convoy of 5 ships with 2 escorts. I dove because I saw gun flashes. When I looked through the peri I realized they were under Luftwaffe attack. I watched for 15 minutes as I closed as ship after ship was hit set on fire and sank with planes going down in flames from the escorts. By the time I got there it was all over.
It was very cool!
I would say I saw Axis air attacks an average of once a mission in 1941.
I have seen air attacks in the regular game in the NA twice in 15 months.
Once I snuck into Tobruk and was lining up a ship when the Luftwaffe bombed the port. I was lucky not to be hit as I have been damaged by Luftwaffe attacks before.
Another thing I liked was while being attacked by convoy escorts I was often attacked from the air in what seemed a coordinated effort of allied A/S aircraft.
Also cool.
This is original material and is easily installed.
That does not take away from the generous freeware so well done by TGW, NYGM, RUB and others. It is just annoying when ignorant people make false claims when they no nothing at all about this add on.

I have it and seems COOL http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Also i noticed some textures (Some Submarines are less rusty now on the Bridge) and some sounds (the Submarine Engines) have been changed.

The submarine engines sounds different in these expansion from the original SH3 sounds...A little more weird and i wonder if the Sub engines made sounds like these in WW2
I guess they made the sound more realistic

The Mediterranean scene is pretty cool http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The only problem with these expansion is that you need to start a career from the start or else the game crashes with the old Career Save

NOTE: You can play all areas and not only in Mediterranean
THe Expansion just adds a lot more things it does not take anything away from the original SH3

It's Cool for a expansion and pretty fun
until SH 4 shows up of course
