Please have a look at the new Community Manual RUM Missions page (http://www.communitymanuals.com/shiii/index.php?title=RUM_Missions).

I struck the match. Let's get the fire going.

Constructive criticism always welcome.

Now your gonna make me learn how to use the mission editor when I'm having too much fun in the career mode!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

May I suggest the USS Reuben James incident...or I'll just have to design this myself.

I'll try your first one tonight! Haven't loaded WinRAR down yet.

This sounds great! To be able to play more authentic, historical missions is a refreshing addition to our simming experience. One stupid question though: I am assumeing these new missions will be subject to any mods we may have installed, like RUB, sky mod, ect.. Is this correct?

This is not a stupid question. In fact, how stupid of me not to think of potential mod requirements.

Eyecandy mods normally do not affect mission code in any way. However, mods can introduce such things as new ship or object classes that do not come with the original game.

If any such objects are referenced in a mission, the player must have the appropriate mod installed or SH3 will CTD when the mission is run.

I see no reason to prevent mod requirements in RUMs. However, it's the RUM mission maker's responsibility to document any mod requirements in the ReadMe file that accompanies such a RUM.

I'll add a paragraph about this issue on the RUM page.

Thanks! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

After several weeks out of the game, I've just downloaded the first RUM mission -and must say that is great! I supose the first sub it gaves to you is the same model that the original captain had. I was able to play it with the game patched to version 1.4. Ran fine as sherry.

But I find somehow strange that I don't have full crew for my sub. Happens in some of the single missions, wonder why.

The original U-22 was a type IIB. The game comes with a type IIA only. But good enough for this scenario.

I'll check into it at some point.

I put together a mission to recreate a what if variant of the destruction of PQ-17. However, when I tested it, the different elements/units didn't move as planned. The scenario maker is very simple - too simple in my view - and there were a lot of things I wanted to do that were not available.

I'll look at the link provided at some point too and see if I can come up with something that will actually run as intended. My sense is that the scenario writer is either buggy or extremely finicky.

First of all, is your SH3 patched up to latest version 1.4b? There were mission editor bugs early on.

Next, it doesn't seem buggy. It's very limited. But essential should work as expected.

I suggest you post your problems (and maybe a link to your mission) on the SubSim SH3 Mission Editing forum.

Version 1.4b from day one. In my scenario, part of the TIRPITZ group is supposed to engage the convoy. For whatever reason, the only ship that moved in the TIRPITZ TF was a DD.

In any case, at the moment, building simulations is sort of on the back burner. I'm sure I get into it at some point.

I think this is a brilliant idea!

But my question is: Must a RUM be dependent on special mods? It will narrow down the number of players, that can use it.

But of course a RUM shall perferably be able to run under any mod, if possible. I have not started using the mission editor, so I do not know how mods do affect the building of a mission.

This is my opinion, too. It's already mentioned on The Community Manual's RUM Missions page (http://www.communitymanuals.com/shiii/index.php?title=RUM_Missions).

Thanks AvonLady. Downloaded and played your RUM with no problems at all. I have the latest RUB, as well as some eyecandy mods installed, and all seems to be working ok!
