Classic famous pics. The dude with the pistol was on ye olde Squad Leader "Red Barricades" board game box. The Il~2 pic has been seen in infinte numbers of retouched markings and landscape backgrounds. The Pe~2 pic was in a magazine my dad bought me when I was a mere squish.

That magazine had articles on the following planes...

I~16
B~26
Pe~2
Ki~43
Yak~9
Me~210/410
Fairey Battle
Westland Lysander

I was amazed at the slender sexiness of Ki~43 body, and the muscular Tubbie physique of I~16. The Fairey Battle article made me fall in love with extended canopies like we have now in Fb110G Flyable. The Yak~9 had the famous pic of the Yak with the sexy "22" on its fuselage and I had forgotten about for years until it showed up http://www.il2skins.com

I was about 10 years old and that magazine articles and pics made a deep impression on me. I was already taking a first step into a larger world that would not be Complete until teh FB.

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Close anyway, it looked different maybe, it was a ~long~ time ago, and the the Yak~22 (http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif) pic didn't have all the other aircraft added into the pic.
