This must of been a mans life time passion and he must of searched Hi and low to get all of this together before he sadly passed away, and now its been broken up and sold off in lots, such a shame as it would have been an awesome project to have completed if i had the time and money... to quote one of the items a filing cabinet full of the drawings he collected.
L087 Lanc Bomber Tech Drawing 1000's + Cabinet. My dad spent a great many hours copying and filling lots of drawing for the construction of his project. There are suspension files in the the top draws with seperate files for each part of aircraft ie, pilots panel, floor, ribs, formers etc. There are varous other documents relating to project in the other draws. Weight ??kg This is one part of a large collection of Lancaster bomber parts and other related items. My father was in the process of building the entire front end of the lanc, but now all the parts are now up for auction after his sad passing...

Sigh it should in my humble opinion have been kept together and sold as a lot to be completed but i suppose money comes into it...as an engineer i can say his workmanship he has put into this is staggering. Check out the other Auctions of the parts that are being sold off, a couple of picture i have posted below to give you an idea of what is contained in this treasure trove, one mans dream that will never come true now http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

criminal... is it being split up due to inheritance tax (the swines...)? is there anyway it could be made exempt if it was donated to a worthy cause, such as the BBMF? they might appreciate spares/drawings/memorabilia? or any other museum?

why not just mail the link over to the bbmf telling who, what and how?

edit:I've found this:

http://www.raf.mod.uk/bbmf/association.html

might be worth a shot, right?

edit2:

I send this:

Maastricht augusth 25th 2004

Dear sir,

the reason you are receiving this email is as followed. I 'm a enthusiastic flightsimmer with a real passion for world war 2 aircraft and a player of the game il2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles.

On the general discussion board of www.il2sturmovik.com (http://www.il2sturmovik.com) there appeared this thread:

http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=23110283&m=172106626

within this thread a link appeared to the following ebay auction:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2979&item=2264440051&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

I would fully believe that if you were to let this opportunity pass you would do a great disservice to the association and the history it tries to preserve.

sincerely,

There must be away of keeping all of this stuff together as others have suggested...
Fantastic work, it would be criminal for it to be sold off in bits.

It is NOT my dad, it is the persons who is selling it on ebay, i just copied and posted his information to show you what he had written, the good news is it looks like one person is bidding on the main parts so it might get built http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I knew this would be confused with your Father, Tony

I'm not pointing fingers at anyone, but as a whole, we don't read a complete post, we skim and then make up our own minds what the post was about

Real sad it's being split up. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/cry.gif

Wish it was here in the US, I'd make an offer for the whole lot just to preserve it.
