Well, I finally got around to doing the T_O_A_D mod to my Vector thingy on my Track IR 3 Pro.

I used 3M reflective tape, the wide stuff and some 1 and 1/4 inch wood balls I found in the craft's department at Wal-Mart. The wood balls have a small, flat rea, making it easy to mount them on the Vector thingy while still having the progressively curved surface for the Track IR to follow. Basically, all you do is tape the balls covered in reflective tape to the positions the reflectors normally take on the Vector thingy. The result is a improved Track IR device. The Track IR sensor needs to be put about a meter away from the Vector thingy or more depending on your tastes. It is now almost impossible for the track IR to lose orientation. I no longer have to re-center the thing every time I look down too far or to one side too far or up to far.

Anyone out there wanting to make their Track IR with Vector an almost prefect device should do this modification.

T_O_A_D, you dah man!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Cool Thats good News. I had a feeling it would help that too. Thanks for testing it. Now I may just break down and get the vector addon to my TIR3pro

Well, I've only owned the Track IR 3 Pro and I've tried it with and without Vector and found it works better with the Vector even in games that don't support some kind of special thingy the Vector can do. Using your idea makes the Vector thing almost foolproof.

Yep as it did before Vector. You add the Ball and just forget about it.

Could ya post a pic LuckyBoy and/or TOAD? And yes, I've read the TOAD's fix posting. But except for the images of the surface degrees, most of the thread is quite old. I've got the TIR3 pro and found I had to either sit further back from the monitor (which was unacceptable to me) or create an extension that is put on a ball cap (my solution at the moment). I have the TIR unit mounted on top of my monitor and am toying with the idea of creating an extension bar for it to bring it closer to my seating position. I would like to get the vector expansion but am worried I would have to sit too close for it to work. So, if you could please post a few pics I would appreciate it.

Well, actually, if you get Vector, you will probably have to sit farther away from the device than you do now. I gotta find the reflective tape that I've managed to lose in plain site somewhere and clean up my install of the mod, then I'll take a pic and post it here.

With my ball being 3/4 of an I can I can easily sit 3 feet away. The larger the ball you have the farther you will be able to sit aswy. With the Vector done as LB is saying will increase target size even more, habing 3 balls. I could imagine setting 5 feet or more easily.

The thread is old yes but if your not in the know, it sgood imformation, if used.

Old as the information is, it is still up to date as far as how I applied it to the Vector thingy. Just in case your family was not sure if you had completely gone off the deep end by purchasing the Vector thingy, doing this ugly mod will remove all doubt!

Well I don't have track IR "yet", but from what you're saying the bigger the target the better?

So could I like cover my head and boobs in aluminum foil instead? That hat looks silly and I don't want to look foolish while playing.

Luckyboy this is what i did quite some time ago with only one ball ( same size than your ) since i don't have the vector yet. After many many conducted tests i found that the track ir3 pro is smoother with a Toad's size ball. Track ir 3 pro loose the traction when one ball is too big.

The difference is that i have a very ligh wood stick of 10 inch with the very ligh ball and tape al around. Work like a charm and very very smoooooth.

The bigger ball work much better using track ir 2 wich i had before.
None of this wouldn't be possible with out TOAD's pioneer idea. BTW TOAD drop this wood ball now and get the very light one polyester. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Thanx for the pic LB. Answers a lot.

TOAD, didn't mean to come off, if I did, as saying the thread was too old to be of value. I found it to be good info. I was just wondering what the newest ideas were with the intro of TIR3 and vector expansion. I may go ahead and get the vector kit and try out some smaller balls.

Thanks again to both of ya.

Hmm http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif this may be obvious, but if you do that please post me a pick http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif
