I have been talking with VFS-22_SPaRX about getting to gather a PTO server with setting's ect like warclouds. whats needed is people to build some good missions. he has not the time to do it himself but is willing to host on his server. as i understand it is to be much like warcouds in settings and missions. historicle plane sets with mission objectives. as far as i know any thing from pearlharbor on to the end of the end of the war. plane set's are to be kept as even as posable. sparx and i have a PM thread on the subject and any one willing to build missions just PM sparx or me for now. i will be posting this this thread in PF,Gen-disscussion and mission builders forums.

Ahh cool. I look forward to giving this a try. My mission building time is pretty limited to single player stuff right now and a few for UK-Dedicated but I'll think about it.

Sounds good...glad to see it being worked on.

Keep the planesets to their respective years and you will always have a balanced set when dealing with PTO. Hopefully it will differ from WC in that reguard. Would not want to see Corsairs and Franks at Pearl Harbor, ect.

Should be popular though. Many cant deal with the settings on some other PTO servers. GL!

RGR thats the ideal. Plane sets as close to RL as posable while still makeing a effort to keep things fair. its no fun to be forced to fly a hellcat and faceing all KI84C's nore is it fun to have to fly zeros and be owned by p51's. also im hopeing for air starts for bombers such as the sbd ect with in resone. not 25kft airstarts but maby 5 to 10Kft and relativly close to target. its no fun to spend 20 minuts climbing a slow loaded down B25 or SBD to target and back or to hang around said target in a zero all day waiting for bombers to jump. just IMHO. sparx is the guy to talk to about final disscions in that regard.

probly 4.05 seeing as thats what warclouds is. but you never know. there is IMHO a real market so to speak for a realistic 4.04 that has WC's settings ect. iv noticed most of the big servers for 4.04 are fantasy type like 334th ect, so who knows.

At this point it does not look like its going to be done as we have yet to a single person to volateer to make some missions. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif . later to day if i can ill read up on how to build missions for online but like i said i have no exp building missions. i dont realy even know how the FMB works lol.

Fordfan, I like the idea a lot, although I'm a late western front addict I would certainly like to visit the Pacific occasionaly with WC settings because I really don't want to be bothered to navigate and strain my eyes with quirky LOD's, or learning Japaneese to know speed, alt, fuel remaining etc. But I have no historicall knowledge and very limited FMB usage expirience...

Anyway look at this for guidelines on WC map building:
http://www.war-clouds.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=100&si...77f8d08b07713dafce4b (http://www.war-clouds.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=100&sid=f671db38476f77f8d08b07713dafce4b)

Second, post at WC forum, many of WC visitors don't visit ubi at all and probably have NO idea something like this is even being considered...

oh yeah !
flying allied bombers on PTO maps is a lot of fun - also you can get a lot of kills because the japanese fighters are very vulnerable to their gun fire http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

flying japanese bombers, there are actually only two http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif , can be a much different storie..........

IceFires Maps are wicked. I recommend you try a few of his on UKdedicated2 Fordfan such as Tirpitz, Autumn Storm and see just HOW good. I forget which are yours now Ice, but I know they are cool.

Sounds a great idea, but could I suggest that you travel through all the different years of the war rather than stick in 1944? The one thing I much prefer on Ukdediacted or Wings Of Wars over Wrclouds is the fact that the planeset is different for each map.

I know some people like to fly the late war planes all the time, but I find it much more interesting to go through all the different years and fly a mixture of planes.

Good luck guys http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I my self would like to see no ki84c or sairC's ect. just stuff that was used commonly. Ki-84-A'a vs f4u-d's J2m2 ect

I'm reading "Fire in the Sky" right now - a history of the air war in the South Pacific and it's definitely inspired me to try to build a couple of the missions described.

But while I have your attention, try thiinking about using the icon settings that made WC so interesting at it's birth: plane ID's.

Right now you see names/numbers as soon as friendlies are in range.

When WC originated, you'd see an aircraft type and only when really close get the pilot/plane info. I've always thought that the switch to the current settings made the server a little less convincing.

Still the best server IMHO.
