Do us all a favor and refrain from even mentioning the dreaded unmentionable. I know it is kind of silly in some respects but the spirit of this rule is neccessary I'm afraid, what with all the piracy and the effects it has had on sales of PF... so do yourselves and us mods a favor.... just dont mention the unmentionable on the forum please. Folks have been given short bans for doing so and it would be unfair to NOT administer similar justice under similar circumstances... since the precedent has been set.... and I would hate to have to do that for that reason... especially if I know from dealing with the person that they are no pirate... just trying to be helpful. We all know the deal.... but we also know that there are indeed thieves on this forum.... So warn the noobs and ..... just watch it.... It sucks to some extent to have to be so ..... broad handed but thats the way it is, so please.... just....... behave. Consider yourselves warned..... Keep in mind that most of us mods contrary to popular belief arent on ego trips or power trips.... we just really, really dig the sim and the community and we just want to kick in in our own way to make it better so.... make our jobs easier please. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif OK? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

No CD? I have mine right here in my very NICE PF

Short bans? 10 days is whacked. And to beat it all, how you handled this situation is how the mod that sentenced me should have handled my situation. And he didn't even have the ****** too be a man and say, "It was me that banned you."

BearCat, you are the type of mod that builds and edifies this community. The mod that slammed me is going to end up tearing this place down. M8's that have been excellent participants to this community for a long time are flatout making a move, and are probably why SimHQ will end up being the place to go discuss this great sim. Me and my squadmates really hate that fact too. Most all of us are over there pretty regular now. My CO told me he likes SimHQ since making a move, but that he has been around these UBI forums for nearly 3 yrs and they just feel like home. But here lately he says it feels more like his daddy is an axe murderer and his mother a mistress when he visits home(these forums). I feel the same way when I heard him put it like that. Kinda of funny in a way, but mostly sad.

If I were posting this in any other thread, I'd probably get a response that would go something like this, "If you don't like how I discharge my UBI justice, I'll give you another 10 days. Better yet, I'll ban you for life. I'm THE MOD and I can do it. Anyone one else want on this ban train, just reply to this post in any agreeing manner from the original poster."

Now don't think that this is a bit over the top. I've read something similar several times since being released from UBI jail. My squadmates actually brought it to my attention while I was unable to open the forum(s). Then I've seen it several times since this past Saturday.

Bottom line, if I am banned from using UBI forums for BS again, I'll never purchase another game that has UBI's name on it. Nor will my family and friends if I have anything to say about it. And it is mods like this that are going to end up costing UBI in the long run.

Don't you guys go through any type of training? If not, BC, the way to approached and handled the above matter about the cd thing, you should hold some classes on mod etiquette, if there is such a thing. If there isn't, then a position should be created and you should be the man. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

There is a fine line between building and tearing down. And sometimes, it's too late to do anything about it. Thanks for your fairness in implementing your duties as a mod BC. The same to Crazy Ivan. I only know of two more and I have never seen them handle situations like the two of you. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

BTW, it would be nice if we could come home someday and find our axe murdering father and mistress mother gone forever from these walls. Loll

I feel like I'm sticking my neck on a chopping block Bearcat but here goes. I feel like I have to at least try and ask something in return of the mods.

Could you all get on the same page with this? I recived a 10 day bann for doing excatly what you suggest we do in your opening thread. In the techforum a newcomer asked about the unmentionable and I warned him that he was seeking answers that we are not to speak of and that to do so results in trouble for both the person asking and the one answering.

In less than 30 seconds I recieved bann notification for doing the very thing you are asking us to do, warn newbies without mentioning the unmentionable which I did in niether name or implication. I was told I was in fact banned for trolling which is the only reason I even choose to comment in this thread. At least 1 of your fellow mods views what your asking as a bannable offence and if you guys can't agree on this ,,,well I used to consider myself a pretty helpful guy in the forums, lately I feel like an outsider on the forum I used to consider my home away from home.

I'm not asking for any preferential treatment I just think its ridiculous that what you feel is the right course to take is considered trolling and a bann worthy offence by at least 1 other mod. Sort of puts us in a loose loose situation. I rather got the impression I was banned for taking a tone because I certainly didn't mention the c word in my post and my "trolling" was done in order to try and help a newcomer avoid bringing wrath down on himself.

P.S. Hey m8...didn't even see you on the boards. lol

And to think I wasn't sure if the topic of this post was G@len Thurber, FW forward view, .50 cal dispersion, P-47 roll-rate, patch release dates or 6dof.

Thanks for the clarification. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

heres my two cents.
this unmentionable thing you mentioned (cant mention it obviously http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif), i understand it has something to do with altering the game files (correct me if i am wrong here), BUT how can it be illegal? we (well most of us) have paid for the game therefore we must surely have rights to alter the files for our own personal use (something to do with 'buying' into the licence (i'm not sure exacly how it works)) dont we?
i dont want to intentionally annoy/upset/aggreive anyone here, its clarification i'm asking for i guess.

The "dreaded Unmentionable"? Why I thought it was not saying anything about BC not changing his underwear. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

As for the "other", then why is it UBI gives it out as a download, and others are allowed to give a link to it? hmmmmmmm And yes BC, a link to it was given here on the forums. It sure saves wear and tear on my poor fragile paid-for FB and PF cd.

In a nutshell, you have not purchased the game or the files on your disk, you have purchased a license to use them, subject to any agreements you clicked "yes" to when you installed the game. So no, you can't alter the files.

I'm with ya BC as are most.

But this is by no means the first time one of the MODS has posted a simuliar thread asking this very same thing.

10 days huh? I've been letting them off easy with a 7 day vacation http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif
