View Full Version : Why is there still so much activity here?

I mean, 1C seems like the place to be now. If you want to find out what is going on, 1C is the place to go. There just doesn't seem to be that much activity on the 1C forums, not like here.
I thought that when it was "rumored" that Oleg would start posting at 1C that hoards of people would be on a mass exodus from here and head over to 1C. Then when Oleg posted his first "update" I thought that this place would be a ghost town. Maybe it's just that this place is the playground for the Il2 and BoB fans and everyone still comes here to fool around and blow off some steam. That's gotta be it. Anybody have any good ideas for stress relief?

EDIT Anyone have any good ideas for letting off some steam?...I knew someone was going to be a wiseguy http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

The reason is the same for you posting your Question, Old habits are hard to break, and most people don't read every post here. Some of them will take several days to find the way.

It's like a shiny new pub opening in town. You know the beer's better there, but this shabby little hole is a home from home, the barmaids know you and your funny little ways and until the brewery closes the place down, you'll keep popping in.

Beer, sex & FB... not necessarily in that order...

Now for your question... I think the layout of the forum may have something to do with it... there is one OT thread.. and Oleg is answering questions in one thread... and it is new... and the mod overthere doesnt know anyone so he has no relationship with and is probably not familiar with the @sshattery that goes on over here sometimes... all in jest of course... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif We're a bunch of choir boys over here... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/halo.gif...

FM isn't the thing that you need to learn again. Some differences in complex situations... but in general fly the same or very close to what is. It will be different in details and more adjustable for different aircaraft types.

I was going to register but the banana colourscheme is a bit difficult to swallow right now. Its very bright and cheery but it makes my eyes melt from their sockets and run down onto the carpet...they need to subdue their extra happy graphics artists a bit! :P

Ice,

You, and I, appear to be in the minority. I noticed in the profile that there was an option to use the "SubSilver" theme but the option didn't work. I asked that it be enabled. The thread disappeared in a sea of "I like the Yellow/Orange theme, it's different" style of posts, evolving into "the Yellow/Orange theme is our company theme" reply, and the SubSilver option was removed.

So .... I suppose if we want to learn the newest about BoB/SoW we have to put up with the glare. Unfortunately I leave my sunglasses out in my car ... I guess I'll have to modify my habits.

I stick around mostly because this is where new people come to seek set-up advice in the Comm Help forum. Of course I find myself here in the GDF too, 'cos I like insulting people as well http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Choctaw, I think there's an answer to your question.

"Home is where the heart is".

This community has history (no pun intended), an established atmosphere, and its own personality.

Im sure that if anything noteworthy turns up over there we, would hear about it in short order.
And as for "moving"...I dont think so.
Theres always something of interest here, good info on aircraft, history, and practicaly anything to do with the WW2 era. But also the humor, and what ever else erupts from the crowd here. There are a couple of other forums I spot check occasionaly, and thats probably what I will do with "The Yellow Peril" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I think the reason is obvious: Evgeny is no nonsense---a real moderator---and he wants it tidy and neat over at 1C. Thus, everyone wants to be where it ain't clean and neat. Obvious. After BOB the SOW comes out, and the premium will be on information, everyone will be over at IC for the straight stuff direct from the top. This forum has been on idle for months, for most of us, except for periodic tempests in teapots.

Just out of interest, when IL2 first came out, how soon before were these forums up and running?

Just kidding. It was funny because it was so innocent http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Oleg Maddox owns the company 1C: Maddox games. Oleg is the creator of the IL2 serries flight games. He is currently working on a new sim called SOW:BOB(Storm of War: Battle of Britain). So that is what that acronym stands for. Anyway, I was just poking fun. Now the secret is out.

Oh and one more thing http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif Some of the guys around here get bored, and they like to pull your leg, that is if they can sucker someone in http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
