View Full Version : Bf-109 Trickery

This is the last straw! No matter which Bf-109 is on the map, they all cast the shadow of an early square-tipped E series. This makes it very hard to determine which 109 is above me, especially when they are all available to fly on a given map, and impedes my ability to determine my escape/defense strategy. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

This MUST be fixed immediately in V4.09!

+1, definitely.

So if it were fixed, that would leave you with either the shadow of an E model or a round tipped later model. How exactly is that a huge advantage to you? That leaves many later models to guess which is above. And if you're that low to clearly make out your opponent's shadow, you're in a pretty weak position as it is.

I thought it was bad form to demand fixes here?

Could be. Pretty subtle if it was.

It's very annoying once the dogfight turns to low altitude and I've got a 109 on my high 5 o'clock or high 7 o'clock and I'm maneuvering into different angles of the sunlight and looking out of the pit to see the shadow on the ground, to determine which 109 is on me and how I will handle it.

Dagnabbit! This has GOT to be fixed!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

The simple solution is to go blue, fly the bf-109 instead of your current heap, and save us having to use electricity/ burn more carbon fuels/ depleting the ozone layer further/ increase global warming JUST to read your thread.

Chicken (cluck cluck cluck squaaawwwwk http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif ) turn around and fight.... like a man.
Have you no confidence at DF'ng at low level ?
If the shadow get's bigger then you can worry, but that will most definitely come with V4.10 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

hmm, Oleg

Every time a Bf-109 gets behind me, and I have neither alt nor speed, I get shot down. This should be fixed. We desperately need a "jump hyperspace" button with 4.09

Oh, I whole-heartedly agree. Any and all tactics are valid, but when facing 3 or 4 opponents, one will eventually lose altitude as they are dodging and ducking and sticking and moving to avoid their relentless attacks.

It's never the first 2 or 3, it's always that last one. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Or better yet, as you are flying a clipped-wing Spitfire low to the ground, watch the shadow change from regular wing to clipped-wing, regular wing to clipped-wing as you slightly raise and lower altitude. I forget how low/high, but you can test for yourself. It might also just be the Mk. VIII CW, I forget.

Funny thing is, I see why it is that way. The programmers re-used several already-made LODs and shadows, especially in the case of the 109s. But, they mixed and matched on the CW Spitfires and lost a wing or two here and there for the Seafire and Mk. VIII at certain LODs along the way. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

ok I 'll ask slickstick this: You are in a dogfight with a Bf109. Real conditions envolved. No external views and no plane indication allowed. How you can understand the difference between a Bf109F-2 and a Bf 109K-4?

Billy_DeLyon

Dive and attack the shadow. It's fairly simple to maintain altitude advantage on them and they can't maneuver in the vertical. Easy prey. But it is difficult to finish them off.. Overmodelled DM! Oleg fix it!!!
