I think I'm going to kill something! I was over at my friends house who has DSL, since my computer is much too slow for large downloads.

So, I download the patch from the Ubi servers, transfer it to a CD, and when I put it in my machine and and go to the folder in which I directed the download into, I get a "MICROSOFT PICTURE IT!" document (104,000Kb) called "fattch_get" which not only is cryptically picture-based, but won't open!

Secondly, I get a non-working (corrupted file) Adobe Acrobat FDF file called "patchil2_aep_201.exe.html". Nowhere in sight is a conventional compressed folder. Is this some sort of huge error or a sick joke?

I'll try and resist my violent and maniacal urges for now.

Where are you at in this world my friend? I will try to do a file to file transfer with you using Yahoo Instant Messenger. My squad mates and I make use of this feature in Yahoo allot. Or, I'd be glad to put it my Yahoo Breifcase and sent you the link if you want to try it that way.

I'm in Washington state, in the Seattle area. This could be a great opportunity to use my Yahoo account, but I'm open to anything.

So you have Yahoo Instant Messenger? If so, what is your user name so I can direct the file on where to go.

Say the word and I'll put the wifey on it- She'll have it in the mail ASAP. You'd have it in a few days http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

It's getting late for me m8. If you want to do the file transfer, let me know asap. All I need is your Yahoo ID and to add you to my Friends list, then click a few clicks and when the file is finished sending, it will be in your Yahoo received folder. And since Cold Duck offered to send it to you also, if this dosen't work out, he is willing to help. But this file transfer will be quicker for you, even on dialup. I'll check back here and in my Yahoo mail for your Yahoo ID for another 20 minutes or so m8. Then I am going to lay it down.

Sorry m8. No email yet. I am CST and have got to lay it down. If you haven't found another way to try to get a sucessful download of the patch by tomorrow, my offer still stands. I will check my email tomorrow and see if it came through. But before I add you to my friends list and send the file, I will check back here. Or if you sucessful at downloading the file elsewhere, please email and let me know. I tried tonight mate. We will try hooking up tomorrow if need be. Good evening.

I've tried for over a week to download the Server Patch with no Luck at all. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
I've had it running for 12 hours... when I lose the Net and I go to start it back up and it starts from the being!
I've done that at less 7 times. I hope the rest of you are having better Luck.

Download from Ubi servers {shudder}????

Try 3DGamers (http://www.3dgamers.com/games/il2sturmovik2/) instead.. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Edit: If downloads are not an option, try their CD by post service instead. The fee is materials & postage only.

To Taylortony,
Thank you for the offer... but I'm US. The link Download.com sounds like the answer to my problem though.
The last Patch you could stop and start it with no problems... this Patch for the Server can't be restarted after you have stopped it.
Again I like to say Thank's for the offer.

GetRight is a nice download utility also.

I have even downloaded Americas Army lol, Only took me like 60 hours of downloading lol, and I'm on dial up. I would just launch GetRight at night before i go to bed and continue the download.

Note:

Some servers will not let you continue. I will test the server out by, stopping the download and restarting it. This way you will not find out the hard way lol.

Hey Ob. Emann

What happened? After I started sending you the file, your ISP or your computer disconnected you from the internet because when I got up this morning, I was still trying to send you the file but you weren't online. Humm.....I tell you what. You can IM me when you get up and motivated and we will start it up again. Or you can try to use the Ubi servers again and get it that way. Or you can email me at the address I gave you last night with your home address and I will burn a CD for you and put it in the mail. If it is your computer that is disconnecting you from the net prematurely, you might want to try a program called "Stay Connected". There are also some download managers out there that will at least allow you to save any download you get cut off from so when you crank them back up, you start off where you left off.

As far as using the Ubi servers, I used one last night to put the patch on my HD so I could send it to you and I didn't have any problems. Of course I am on a broadband connection and it didn't take but 3 minutes to download anyway.

I am available if you want to start again. The quickest way to get hold of me will be to IM me. It's still early where you are at, 7:25am. I got some running to do and then I should be right here. Give me a couple hours.

Also, I noticed a couple more having problems dl'ing the patch. If you guys have tried all the other ways and are at the end of the rope, I will do the same for you. I am confident that if Ob. Emann's computer hadn't disconnected, that the file transfer would have worked great. You will just have to have Yahoo messenger and use my user name , above in one of the posts, and add me into your friends list at least until after transfering the patch.

But my suggestion would be to get one of the programs above and dl from the Ubi server or a mirrored site. But I am here to help if you need me to.

I'm an absolute IDIOT worthy of a lobotomy. I closed Yahoo messenger, forgetting that the download was connected to it. Realizing this 4 minutes afterwards, I wanted to hit my head repeatedly on the wall, but was too sleepy. So we'll try the download again. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

Just a little update for those that have been following Emann's saga.

Yes, the first evening we hooked up, he shut Yahoo down while we were in the middle of sending the file. loll Kind of funny? The next day, yesterday, we finally hooked and I started sending the file again. He is on a dial-up account so it was a slow go. My transfer window was up to 99% complete, after about 11 hours of sending. I was in the middle of a mission with my squadron and I noticed a window in the bottom right of my screen that popped up saying that he went offline. So I thought the file finished sending and he was going to install it. Then all of a sudden, while I was on a bomb run, the Yahoo message screen pops up right in the center of my monitor, and it was him asking me to join him. loll Needless to say, I crashed. Ooch! I went to my desktop to see why he did that and I found out his ISP cut him off while the file transfer was at 99%. loll I felt bad for him. I mean 11 hours of watching, making sure and hoping that wouldn't happen. Then when you think it's a done deal at 99%, BOOM, it happens.

Anyway, after he expressed a few explictatives, loll, we started again. And this morning, I am pleased to say, I woke up to find my transfer window closed on its' own, which is a sign that the file transfer was complete. I am waiting on news that this worked out and the patch opened and installed correctly. It is still early on his side of the country, so we shall see.

I just noticed a couple hundred views on this thread and thought that some of you would be interested in knowing what had happened, in between, getting this file successfully transfered.

When I visit friends, and hear the sound that a modem makes as it dials up I cringe! It's like remembering a very bad dream . . . I feel for anyone that has these troubles.

Thanks for the news, and yes, I saw this and felt very sorry for the poster.

It's all good for Emann now. The patch installed correctly and I'd say he is enjoying it as I type. With as much trouble as he had to start with, I just thought I'd finish this thread with a successful ending.

Finally was able to Download the new Server Patch.
I want to say Thank's to Atomic and Taylortony for their help in this matter.
I used a Mirror site that had a Pause feature included. It was a 17 hour download... but I'm on my way.
Again Thank's for the Help!
