If you were to undertake the endeavor, what plane would you use as a trainer?

One that's cheap and that preferably has room for two or more.

Honestly, I'd try a Cessna 150/152... Though they are quite sensitive planes (and quite small). If you have no problems being squeezed in a tiny cockpit and feeling the effect of the tiniest of air disturbances, it's an alright plane to fly. Cessna 170/172's are a good choice. As are Piper PA-28 Cherokees.

Are we talking virtual fly or real fly here?

In real life or in-game? In game I'd suggest you let her fly the Spitfire, in RL, as Starosta said, Cessna 152 or even 172, they're great. I prefer the 152 as they are very light on the controls. But it's a cramped cockpit, so if you like more comfort the 172 is the better choice!

OH! If you mean in IL2, then may I suggest the D3A1? You will NOT find a more forgiving or easier to fly plane than the Val! It's EXTREMELY durable and you can operate it from anywhere.

LOL- sorry, in game. I've flown full scale for about 100 hours, 300 hours in the right seat of a complex single, a billion hours flying all manor of R/C aircraft, 500 skydives and 50 BASE jumps and a couple of flight sims and I've stopped diferentiating between them. To me, they're all flying. I guess I've gone off my rocker a bit.

Anyhoo, thanks for the suggestions, I'll let her try them all and see which one works best. I wonder if, because of the "interface" with the world, if the cockpit with the best view would outweigh some handling vices.

I'll keep ya posted.

Its probably not what I'd want to use for the first few landing attempts, but yeah man, that's got the right mojo as a trainer. Love the A/S indicator. Perfect.

Heywood, she's done her share of that and may not be finished.....so we'll see. Either flying is sublime to you or it isn't, at least she's willing to give it a go and this game has what it takes to bring it out of a person if its there.

I've been helping out a nice young lady I know who recently got PF and then FB/AEP Gold. After trying several a/c, and suffering many crashes on take off, and many fatal spins after a successful take off, she settled right into a KI43. That thing practically flies itself. You just start it up and push the throttle forward and it floats off the runway. She is doing pretty well in it. She even got two kills on her first venture into online play. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

DO NOT allow the wife to enter your "universe".

my wife's been after me for over a year now to get her "in the game"...

so for christmas, she got a 3.4 ghz p4 computer...and i bought her some cheap joystick to start on...but she's already eyeing my X52...

anyway, i started her in the mustang, later version. she's doing ok but has a while to go before she ventures online.

btw, if you ever bump into "lady_hawke" on hyperlobby, that's her...and that'll be me on your six... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I snapped this with an old box camera many years ago, hence it's kind of blurry, but you can just make out my wife, with her mother in front, checking out in the demo IL2. They loved the forward vision but complained the elevator control was badly undermodelled.

I just showed this thread to my wife. She got a chucle but promptly pointed out. That nothing would get done around here if she was to sit your **** down and fly like me. No thanks she said.

So that saves me some money hehehe

My wife started with the IL2 in the old game. Then she moved up to the I-16. She won't venture online in this game.

She is deadly in the old Dynamix Starsiege game and prefers to play it rather than IL2.

She really likes the IL2, I think she likes to hear the guy in back raising H**L about her unothodox moves.. LOL

No doubt, P-63C. Smooth lines, full of muscles and big gun.
