I was thinking of taking the stealth meter away. Any tips for me?

I turned it off early as well.

At this point, I've played so much I just have a "feel" for how fast I can go. Generally, submerged and in calm seas, if you are in front of a DD or DE and no more that 1,000 meters off its course, from around 1942 on either be stopped or not making more than about 1 kt. The heavier the seas, the more noise you can make. If you are abeam of a DD or DE you can be noisier - if behind you can be very noisy.

When a DD or DE is fairly far away - say 2000+ - and position is good, I like to dive after an attack and maintain 1/3 until a 1/2 minute or minute after I release my decoy. Then I go to slow speed.

Remember to present the smallest profile to your pursuers.

What I usually do when approaching a convoy is go into silent running ~5000m away, and work my way past the front escort at 1-2 knots. My p-scope rarely going above the waterline, so I just catch glimpses of the ships. I usually use sonar to position myself.

I always monitor the nearest warship (especially the front one) as they vary their speeds, trying to detect your noises. It's probably the way the've programmed this ship but when you're really close the ship switches off engines, so do you, else he'll pick you up very quickly. Wait for him to restart, then you continue as normal. So when finally in position switch off engines and wait at 20m while the front escort passes overhead. While doing that listen to the musical notes of the escorts screws....
