I have no Ideea, but Maybe the Cd could be scratched, or the sectoion of your HDD where you are installing it could have bad sectors. Better try at the Thech Support forum.
good luck.

If they can't help you at the Tech Support forum, take the software back to where you bought it, and try to exchange it for a new copy. If they won't take it back or you still have the problem, then contact UbiSoft (or whoever your distributor was, if UbiSoft isn't on the box) to get the problem fixed.

Major bummer. /i/smilies/16x16_robot-sad.gif

I got same error and found that was a Windows Installer fault. Try to get the last version of WI from Micro$oft.
Some help it's possible from Windows Installer Cleanup, an utility that clean all the mess WI leave on your pc.
Good Luck :-)

It has nothing to do with the damaged CD. Check the threads in the TechRoom, they were discussed at the appearance of the Il2/FB. Many people, me included had this problems which are a bit more complex than desired. Someone fixed it with cleaning Temp folder, other less lucky player had to replace RAM & MoBo to make the FB tick (it is supposed to be the RAM error). I used all other solutions and faced the grim choice of buying new RAM & MB but instead I stopped playing the FB. No matter how good this game is, it is still only a game and I have more pressing investments to make at this moment.

Hope you are more lucky.

A quick search in the Tech Support forum produced four threads, including vonAffentitten's thread (his name always cracks me up):
