Anybody else is free to climb aboard this one, but raaaid came to mind (why, I don't know http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif) when I noticed this.
Do you ever check, at the top of the forum board, next to where you would make a new post, under the heading 'Go', is a little section entitled 'karma' - I don't really know how this works, but mine is on 143 points, at level 0, which is apparently quite good.
Anybody else want to share their current karma with the rest of us? raaaid, for instance?
How do you rate on the forum's karma level?
How the hell does it work?
Are you http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/halo.gif, or are you http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif?

Is it based on how many people report your posts? That would make sense for me.....

Whooaa there, Orheim!
You're a saint, dude, walking the earth..
must be a special palace booked for you beyond the pearly gates, man! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif

Does anyone know if there is an 'incentive' for karma points?
If I get enough, do I get a free copy of SOW before it hits the shelves?

....."instead of promoting resigned powerlessness, the early Buddhist notion of karma focused on the liberating potential of what the mind is doing with every moment. Who you are -- what you come from -- is not anywhere near as important as the mind's motives for what it is doing right now..."

Oh sorry, wrong forum,

Karma is strange.

You have Karma points.

karma level.

karma title.

Karma level is different to karma points.

My karma points are 6336

level is 0 of 0 (0 is best)?!

And karma title? It doesn`t say.

Obviously it has nothing to do with the perceived idea of Karma and is more to do with post counts.

Level 0.

On a different message board I go to, you get 1 karma a day, for everyday you log in.

Maybe it's a similar system?

yeah i think it's post count + something... maybe number of times you voted in a poll. Although some people have lower karma than post count... so I dunno.

I'm just glad you're still with us, and have somehow managed to avoid being banned.. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

It seems tied in to posts, yes...
Maybe you lose points for every time you moan about 'I want this/that plane; Oleg, this/that is porked, etc.
Possibly + points for posting 'Oleg, you are the greatest!/Please stop giving us more IL2 content, we're spoilt rotten already!' _HeHe!

It used to be used for Karma titles but that incited people to spam so the titles were removed. The Karma still stacks up but is now completely and utterly useless.

Looks like it was for titles or ranks like some forums use, but people abused it so it got axed. Not sure why post count doesn't=karma though

Funny thing about karma: you never know how long it takes to return to you.

Example:

While in college I was working with a paint contractor. While on a 10 ft. stepladder, a particularly mean friend jabbed me in the rear with a nail at the end of a pole we used for picking up our paper trash outside. The nail really went in deep, and while I was climbing down from the ladder to figure out what happened, (the rascal thought that I was coming down to pound him), he took off running to the downstair steps that were nearby, presumably to escape me. When he ran down the stairs one of the wooden stairtops came loose and flipped over, sending his feet flying into the air. When he came down his posterior landed right on the overturned step, . . . which now had an entire row of exposed nails. Yep, he took about 4 of them deep enough that the step board was still hangin' from his @rse.

I've believed in karma ever since.

Around here we would say "his chickens came home to roost". That's hillbilly for "karma".

They sure are. I'm too lazy to do the math but it seems like karma is a percentage of your post count or something (people with lower count have a karma number much closer to their post count, people with higher post count have more of a difference between post count and karma).

Mine for example is 310, or 92.81% of my post count.

Looking at other posts I see that the percentage varies from person to person. Why knows http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
