Hello,
First let me say I absoultly think there is nothing that compares to IL-2 and FB as of yet. The perception of 3d sky is great.
But, I am having trouble seeing any action playing compaigns as bombers. (On first mission anyway)
No fighters attack us as we carry out he mission . Our escort fighter always win.
And just now I flew as a German bomber and after we droped bombs , I noticed many Russion fighter planes on the map in the far distance returning to Russia and not persuing us back to Germany.
btw:they had huge cannons, what planes were they. I am familar with US planes, but the Soviet planes I have never seen before.
thanks

Do you have any tracks of your missions? They would help quite a bit.

Consider yourself lucky. I have been asking for fewer fighters in bomber missions. Usually I get jumped by 16+ fighters and my 4 escorts can do nothing about it.

As we all know, the Soviet Union had too many fighter pilots during WW2. So Stalin's scientists came up with a brillient way to solve this problem. They would make some of their pilots fly British made Hurricanes. The Hurricane was an uber flying coffin. It was designed to maximize pilot kills by providing nothing but fabric and a few wooden spars around the cockpit. This setup prevented the pilot from escaping easily while at the same time not interfering with enemy bullets and shrapnel trying to pass through it. The rest of the Hurricanes structure was designed to ricochet bullets and shrapnel into the cockpit. And thanks to the cockpits superb design, all of them would pass through the cockpit and the pilot inside with little difficulty. Of course the Hurricane's designers didn't stop there. In order for the Hurricane to become a flying coffin, they had to make it easy to shoot. They did this by making the Hurricane the slowest monoplane fighter in use at the time and even gave it a very bulky shape so that it would be easy to spot and hit. The final feature of the Hurricane was its ability to bury or cremate itself. And because it was made of biodegradable materials, the Hurricane was environmentally friendly after it buried itself. Because of these brillient features, the Hurricane was a perfect flying coffin and helped the Soviets solve the pilot surplus they were suffering.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I don,t have tracks saved. Or is something that I need to enable?
Or do you need to see them to help with problem?
I also need to tel you I am running on old 550 p3 tnt 1
with everything turned down as low as possible. Still I am able to enjoy game.
Does this have anything to do with number of AI?
I view the enemys and they are usally haeading home or just
circling around in the distance.
Or my escorts have shot them all down.
I have played and own all WWII sims except CFS3 and there is nothing this realistic as IL2 and FB.
Thanks for your help.

The DCG does deal you some strange missions. I just flew one where I was strafed on the runway at mission startup! If you get an impossible scenario you can edit the mission through the FMB to get something more reasonable. In this case I moved the attacking planes back a little to give us time to at least get off the ground.

It's the game. In ww2, more often then none, the fighter bomber missions went untouched by other fighters. But with the il2-fb series, you have fighters coming at you in EVERY bomber mission that you fly as a bomber. Too many people would cry and whine if all you had to do was fly in formation as a group of bombers for almost 2 hours, drop your load over the target and head back home for another 2 hours without any fighters to deal with.

I'd prefer to have a choice of a realistic campaign. They should add a "realistic campiagn" option to the realism panel. Cause I would prefer to fly 10 sorties in my Ju-87G without seeing a single fighter.

Now and then taking off while being strafed makes for an exciting mission, but when I really started to give up on the campaign generator was when in the first mission of a Finnish fighter campaign, sat at the back of the flight of Brewsters, we had the pants strafed off us by high performance fighters, and of course the AI sat there twirling its furry dice while all hell broke loose. I eventually got through the mission, but everyone else got cut to ribbons.

I know I could have generated a new campaign, but I don't like to keep redealing until I get a hand I like. Feels like cheating. I kind of lost faith in the campaign generator after that.

Hi,
Thanks for responce. But maybe its the first mission in the campaign that is tame.
We flew to target and back without one fighter attack.
Maybe I should not give up on the campaign so soon and fly the second mission.
