I know the mods are going to be upset I didn't post this in the other thread containing all the info on the issued at hand but I felt it might get lost in the shuffle:

This was on one of the scale model websites I frequent. it's very timely and relavant to what we seem to be seeing with IL-2 & PF:

Seems like our flight sim isn't the only one having to deal with product copyrights....

Well there ya go. An answer to anyone interested in doing something positive.

Its nice to see that the ball is already rolling, and with backing from someone in power.

Excellent, and optimistic find! And to think that this entire thing may have been avoided with the disclaimer: "We are in no way affiliated with youknowwho" written somewhere on the box.

This has infiltrated all hobbies; plastic model building, model railroading, and computer gaming. Nothing like having to buy your free time enjoyment from big corporations. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

~S~ All!!!

Well, if you haven't already written to your congressman, then maybe it should make the "to-do" list for tomorrow. We really need to make sure that our hobby is included if/when this topic is taken up. And while this doesn't mean we'll get our p47n, and all of the other goodies, it could mean we might see them down the road with BOB or other sims.

Well I wrote a letter to my congresswoman and also to the one in the link.

I am a hobbyist and a flight sim enthusiast thanks to 1c so I will do whatever I can to stop this new corporate trend - no matter how futile or hopeless it seems.
Homer Simpson once told me that "trying is the first step toward failure...so never try"...and I believe everything he tells me, but this is different.
This is WAR.

I'm just wondering how long it will be before books and videos come under the same attack. Can't see how those mediums would be any different.

Those poor defense contractors... We all know they don't make much money.

Frightening. I fly this and build scale AFV's, and so far it hasn't hit the AFV crowd just yet. The guys who build the older stuff are probably safer, but it doesn't take much to see General Dynamics, Vickers or Krauss Maffei wanting to take their cut from the kits of the more modern vehicles.

The more people call the better chance of it making an issue. If these hot shot lawyers put these flight sims in the pot, what will they have accomplished? Regardless of whether or not it was so and sos fault, WW2 flight sims are an endangered speicies, and these corporate clowns WILL kill them unless ACTION is taken.

Write or call someone this week if you value your Virtual Hellcat, Corsair or whatever...!

NO ONE LIKES BAD PRESS

Big corporations might FOLD on this ISSUE because of BAD PRESS, and that they have their HAND in the TAXPAYERS WALLET ANYWAY.It will call attention to how much money they make....GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR SO be sensible, but be MAD.......

You're right..it's not just us...it's a plague of rats upon us.

"Marvel's City of Heroes Lawsuit: Marvel Comics is charging NCSoft and Cryptic Studios with copyright infringement because gamers could possibly create superheroes in the game that resemble Marvel characters. "

Here's something:
I didn't do airplane models before the advent of this sim.
I am a hardcore 1/35 armor modeler and only began buying HASEGAWA and ITLAERi 1/72 scale models of the aircraft represtented by this sim.
Because of the sim, and ONLY BECAUSE OF THIS SIM, I have bought and built the following kits:
SMER- I-153
ICM- 1-16
HASEGAWA- Bf109E'Wick'
ITALERI- Ju-87G 'Kanonvogel'
REVELL PRO MODELER - FW-190
HASEGAWA- P-39 'Yippe'

So please, alienate me. Kill off your revenue streams Lazy American Mother Fokkers!

All of our efforts should be coupled with the simple fact of," Pandora is out of her box," and the true (+3,000 year-old) truth of that matter is, "You can't put the ***** back in no matter how hard you try."

It's been out of the box for over 5 years (see AMERICAN AIRLINES).

Nobody here really gave a flip until it affected IL2.
