I'm impressed with the Russian AK-74 model by RomanS. Unfortunately he used an American-import Romanian SAR-2 as a reference. But the fact that he copied it well enough for me to distinguish it from a Russian military AK-47 is impressive. He even duplicated the poor finish of a SAR.

There are a few flaws in the details- the dust cover is entirely wrong. But I suspect this is due to misinterpritation of the reference photos. It's still a bang-up modeling job - more than good enough for gaming.

Those TIger II's and the Spitfire just look so real!

I htought they were actual plastic models, they look so realistic.

Games are going to be so realsitic in the future when they can start using models with that many polygons http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Cant wait.

Heres hoping Olegs still making Flights Sims at that time for the love of it, and not gone over to console arcade games for the money.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Wow! Oleg should maybe contact the modeller of that plane....a Lanc for SoW would be a welcome addition.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

We might see models like that in games 20 years from now.

Beautiful work!
This is cinematic quality work here. This type of quality is better used to make movies than making computer simulations. If only we could have that quality now. But it won't be 20 years... probably more like 10, maybe less.

Cheers,

Sub Sonic means just under the speed of sound.

These planes cannot stand such high speeds and disintegrate<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Well, it isn't called the Sound Barrier for nothing.

As a planes velocity increases so does the drag.
If an object nears the sound barrier the air gets denser and denser at the outer edges of the fuselage and wings. The dense air causes friction on the surface of the plane and heat is developing. When a plane goes super sonic you will notice how the air is condensing and shaping a cone in front of the airplane until it finally breaks this barrier. Severe turbulence evolves and can be felt as vibrations.

Compare going super sonic to a jump into water from the 10 meter tower. If you go straight down it's no big deal. If you however land on your stomach you will be injured.

I am not an engineer, so i can't go into detail...<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

"There was a demon that lived in the air. They said whoever challenged him would die. Their controls would freeze up, their planes would buffet wildly, and they would disintegrate. The demon lived at Mach 1 on the meter, seven hundred and fifty miles an hour, where the air could no longer move out of the way. He lived behind a barrier through which they said no man could ever pass. They called it the sound barrier." http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

In the 1946 world I think they'd name the film The Reich Stuff http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Kling! Screeech! KABOOOOM! AAAARGH!
(Du bist tot.)

To disintegrate: abbauen, aufspalten, trennen, zerlegen, zersetzen.

In a WW2 aircraft, if you get too fast, structure fails and the plane breaks or explode. The most near the sound barrier you are, the most critical pressure gets around the airframe. Only in the late 40s were airplanes able to break sound barrier (circa 1200 km/h)without beaking themselves. It was in 1947 (Bell X-1 piloted by Chuck Yeager) that this was first achieved, though it is said that Me 163 was able to reach it with rocket on in a dive -but no record is known.

Horten Ho-IX V3 or Gotha 229A is the fastest (980km/h) of the WW2 jets and reportetly did break the soundbarier during a testflight.

Shame that we only got 2 30mm machinguns as armerment on this plane in the game, it actualy also could be armed with R4M rockets or 2 500kg bombs, i would love to see those weapons on it in the game.
