Hi,

I started with the 110 campaign (that cockpit is fantasic!) and found that the cannon is hard to aim, too. Seemed that when I was shooting at ground targets, it was firing where it was supposed to whereas trying it against a La5 that bounced me saw cannon shells hurtling no where near where the sight suggested.

Maybe you need to be at the right distance?

Cheers,
Norris

I wish there was a sight for it too. In my offline campaign, I've had fair luck treating it like a bomb, flying in a shallow dive (almost level) and firing when I would normally drop a bomb. About 20% success so far with this approach.

The cannon was intended for use against ground targets only and so has a slight downward angle- you CANNOT aim the cannon with the gunsight... (though it will help with getting lined up properly) you simply have to learn how to guesstimate where your rounds will go.

Practice by attacking a convoy from astern or ahead and watch your tracks to see how to improve your angle of aim...

I'm loving the bf110 btw http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Pre AEP - I've found the occasional ace AI pilot able to tear my Hurricane a new a$$ with that damn cannon!

Looking forward to flying her actually.

It seems that we had wrong blueprints about angle of the cannon.

I received the instruction for this cannon (how to shoot) and it seems really that the blueprints that we have doesn't match this instruction.

So we evaluate the possibility to rework this cannon.

I aim using the bottom part of the outer gunsight ring, and it aims almost perfecly at convergence distance. In fact, it is accurate up to the point where I am nearly sure it could have been meant to be set up like this. I can consistently hit any small building with just as much accuracy as any other high-powered cannon where the rounds tend to arc parabolically (Like the U4 on an Me-262). I am not sure of the historical use of this cannon, but it seems plausible to have to aim this gun using the outer gunsight ring.

Try aiming using this method and tell me what you think.
