Just one more attempt to bring to Oleg's attention the climb-rates of the FW-190A, especially the A-9.

Also to point out that roll-rates for many planes are too high, including FW-190. The 190 should have roll advantage, but no REAL advantage exists currently against planes like P-39, P-40, etc. due to high rates in general.

I would just like to hear that climb-rates and roll-rates have been examined again.

Here is link to climb-tests performed by Robban, please note the A-9's climb as it should be as good, if not better than Dora down low but currently it climbs similar to 190A-4 which is incorrect.

Thanks for your time.

The 190 rolls extremely well - actually, almost too much!

Recon, if you look at my post I said the 190 rolls too fast at speed. The problem is almost every plane rolls too fast, some way too fast so the 190 really has no roll-advantage to speak of. Fly a P-40, Yak, P-39, etc. and tell me the 190 has any real/useable roll advantage.

Thats probably my biggest complaint with the sim really, all planes appear to roll too quickly. It also seems that while the FW does have an advantage, it is still rolling too fast itself and the relative advantage is less than it might have been in real life.

Most planes snap roll at amazing speeds like they are light aerobatics aircraft, not high speed warbirds. Further, while the nose does go down when rolling (and that causes some altitude loss) the planes do not sink...they remain level on their axis with no other loss of altitude. From the footage I've seen in WW2, most planes appeared to drop when rolling and performed basically a barrel roll more then a pure roll. As they roll, the drop and then come back up...I don't see that in game though.

I can't really say FB is wrong, it just feels as though something is off, doesn't quite match up with footage I've seen.

And if you want a good idea of what a FW190 probably should roll like...lose an aileron and then start hard rolling. It's fast but not overdone and to me feels closer to what it possibly should be.

Very good point.

If you look at old guncam-vidios, or even at airshows, the planes seem to roll at slow motion compared with IL2 . May be the 190 rolls to fast, but then the others roll WAY to fast. Now in this game roll-rate is nearly no factor in a dogfight ( exept perhaps if you compare the extremes, 190 and Zero )

Might be a silly example, and somone even might ROFL or so , but in the old games Red Baron and the follower RB 3D, roll rate was one of the most important combat-criterias. ( remember, when you switched from Alb D 2 to Alb D 3, you first were lucky about the new fast...ahhhh..to silly to compare :P )

So for summarise, I would like to see all roll rates reduced in a noticable way, so the planes famous for high roll rates ( 190, Spit with clipped Wings, T-Bolt at high-speed )will have a real advantage.

my biggest gripe about the roll rate is the fact that the planes roll from the gunsight not the center axis of the plane , they seem to act like a pendulem and thus to me it just feels and looks all wrong .
