View Full Version : Foehammer forced to retereat

I tried to sneak through the Gibraltar Straight today in hopes of writing a patrol report about it. However, I met two big obstacles. Firts of all, the weather turned nasty, exactly like in the first report, nighttime, 15m/s winds, heavy rain, no visibility due to the fog. Not a very good setting to take screenies in, won't you agree? Second, there was an Eastbound convoy just ahead of me. It is probably quite huge, since the TC won't go above 64x, even tho the ships seem to be really far away. At this speed, it will take forever and ever to even get close to the straits. I cannot overtake the convoy, because they seem to be moving around 12 kts, and there is no room to maneuver around it. I gave up and decided to reload the In Base game save. So, where should I go this time? Try Gibraltar again, New York or Arctic patrols?

Arctic !

YA, don't hear to much about arctic patrols, I went there once though, not one dolphin, boat, or glacier. I must not know what grid to be in, or above.

So if you know where to go. I'd love to see some Iceburg mayhem. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I just tried, and failed again. I sailed north toward Narvik, then west all the way to Iceland, then south-east... all in hopes of finding a convoy. Burned most of the fuel, found nothing. About them icebergs, I have seen one in the last career, when I did have interesting Arctic convoy encounters. Here are the screens

I have also found a Task Force, consisting of Bismarck and a Hipper cruiser with escorts, heading eastward. However, the Bismarck was sunk two years ago... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif Look at the date in this screenhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
I got some more screens of them cruisers

Well if it's going to be boring don't do it. How about a raid on Norfolk ?

It was indeed quite boring, now I'm on my way to New York, and if I don't die, i will go to Norfolk as well. Story might appear either tomorrow or Friday

How far north do you need to go to find icebergs?

08-24-2006, 03:52 AM
Just like all roads lead to Rome, head north until it becomes cold as an iceberg, gloomy and glum, as cold as the hair on a polar bear's bum.

Thar be what ye seek!

Actually, rumor goes that there are 3 icebergs, "patrolling" their separate areas. I stumbled upon that one by accident, it didnt even drop TC... I saw it northeast of Narvik
