Ladies & Gentleman,

I proudly present my latest radio-controlled toy. She may be small (1:350 Tamya kits)
but she will sail proudly as part of my fleet of tiny ships http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I give you the new flagship of my fleet, the IJN..... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Yamato or Musashi?

Take your guesses gents. One of those models is static, the other IS radio controlled, and only I know which! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

The IJN Yamato is at the back, in light grey, the IJN Musashi is at the front, in Japanese Naval Grey.

humm Pity I don't have SHIV. I could sneak into Truk & have a go at sinking them both http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Oh BTW, I do know I have yet to finish painting the Musashi... funnel & mast to paint black like Yamatos! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Nice work ... If only I had the time ...

I have about six unopened kits in the basement and all the proper paints...just waiting

Tell me about it The_Silent_O lol.

I have kits of the KM Prinz Eugen, Admiral Scheer, Admiral Graf Spee and Deuichland (sp) to do also. Same scale - 1:350 so about 12" long there! Ought to be fun getting radio gear in them... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

I guess the Musashi is remote controlled... why?? No floatplanes attached on the back, because they would easily break off http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

lol Sensible logic I admit Rood-Zwart, but those float planes on the IJN Yamato are not glued on. They just rest on, and I can move them among the rails on the "flight deck" and onto the IJN Musashi if I like. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The only reason I don't have any on the IJN Musashi in the pics is cos they are painted the wrong colour!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/1072.gif

Oh and that is in no way a statement that IJN Yamato or IJN Musashi are R/C urm.. wait I don't mean that... do I?.... urm oh er ah I think I'll go potty now! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

I'll give you all a few more days then tells ya which it is http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

humm May have my next build the HMS Saracen mobile by then...

Anybody know what the HMS Saracen was and why she is famous? I'll give you a hint - she is a Coastal Monior from WW1/WW2 era. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I figured the Musashi, since the paint job is cleaner top and bottom, since you'd have to open her up to get at the hardware often, you wouldn't use tape to paint the red or grey part.

Another sound theory Raptor22ADF lol

Truth be told, when I first painted the IJN Yamato I painted her red, taped along the waterline and painted the top grey. However the red paint peeled off and I had to repaint her again and I couldn't get all the paint off, thus she has a dodgy waterline http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif The IJN Musashi, made mmm 2 years later has been build based on learning from previous mistakes on the Yamato and others.

Well since nobody is voting http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I'll declate the 8 people who voted for the IJN Musashi the winners.

Let's not forget that when the Musashi joined the Japanese Fleet in August 1942 she became Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto's flagship. She also had the Honour of carring his ashes home in 1943 after his death.

I really want a large model of the IJN Yamato. Point of fact, I know where I can get a 1:96 scale model of her. It is over 8 feet in length and looks VERY impressive in full brass fittings etc. Only one problem... The BASIC kit costs over 1000. With FULL BRASS option added, full electrics to drive turrets, all 4 props, both rudders (independantly) Radar and Heavy AA guns, that price rockets to OVER 2500!

I still want one though.... mmm Pyrotechnic 18" turrets
Nobody in my RC club will combat me - ok AXIS should loose, but all we have are German and Royal Navy ships. Nobody COULD beat me!

I threatoned to build a 1:96 1939 Kregsmarine "H" Class Battleship, that caused the comment "I think we need to build 3 British Lion Class battleships if he ever builds that" to come out http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

That is my third planned second ship (Not including the HMS Saracen which is on the slipway)

Finish her off, build a German River Barge (1:16) [1], then a Kregsmarine Planned "M" Class Light Cruiser (1:96) [2] then the 1939 "H" Class Battleship [3]. Somewhere in there I also need to build an E-100 tank in 1:16.... mmm my hobby shack looks busy! lol

Later Folks!
