I often use the quick mission builder when playing IL-2. As you know, the theatres are limited to eastern Europe or Pacific. Is there a way of adding the Channel front and western European front to quick mission builder, so I have the choice of being a British, French, or American pilot flying against the Luftwaffe and Italian pilots, or vice-versa?

Yes but you need to mod your game.

You may want to wait just a bit though and see if the pending 4.09 official patch adds quick mission builder features that do much the same as the modded QMB.

Yeah, there is a mod for adding nearly all the maps to the QMB.

I don't use them, so if I want match-ups for western European planes I just use whatever map seems appropriate, change all the squadrons to match what I want, and save it. I don't really care if the coastline of the Crimea map doesn't match the coastline of the Normandy map, I'm too busy shooting down planes. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thanks for the responses. Crucislancer, your additional points are valid and I feel you there http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/metal.gif. For a long time, I flew against B-29's, B-17's, P-51's, and Spitfires in Soviet markings. However, recently I have the urge to see the US star and the British roundel on the western Allied planes, for variety if nothing else. Enthor1, I appreciate your suggestion to wait for the official 4.09 patch, but if the current mod is not too involved, I'd like to try it out, especially since, IIRC, the release date of the 4.09 path is still undetermined. Could y'all tell me where to find and download the mod? Thanks!

We can't link to the site here, but Google "AllAircraftArcade" and you will find what you seek. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

4.09 beta was release a while ago. We can link to it, right?

Of course. They have it at mission4today, and I'm sure there are other links around here as well. Just the mod stuff from AAA can't be linked here, though we can discuss it.

Appart from the features visible in screenshots, only new maps added to QMB are those coming in the 4.09 Final patch + Kuban map.

Maybe learn to use the Full Mission Builder, it's a lot more fun than QMB and isn't too hard to figure out.

Agreed. The FMB is great, no need to get too in depth, you can easily set up something like a quick dogfight in 5 minutes or less.

What I like to do is make little "check ride" missions for the planes that I want to fly, so I can practice with take off/landing, maneuvers, and all that good stuff. I'll throw some contemporary enemies in there, far enough away that they can't bother me unless I go to them. You really can't do that with the QMB.
