For all of you out there who are eagerly awaiting the chance to participate in an online war once Pacific Fighters comes out, give Forgotten Skies a look. We've been flying online campaigns now for almost two years, and it has been a real hoot. We have just recently begun to use Lowengren's DCG to generate the coop missions, and it has really made a good war great.

Recon will be starting up a PTO campaign as soon as PF comes out, so if you all are interested in total immersion, and combat with a great bunch of folks, why not come by and take a look around. You don't have to wait for PF if you like what you see. Go ahead and sign up now! http://www.forgottenskies.com/ForgottenWars/default.aspx

Hey Razor, would a guy like me fit in? You have to realize I've got a 60 hr workweek, three kids, one on the way, and if I can grab just a little time it's usually spent on my 109 F2 campaign. I'd like to think I'm a good flyer, but I just don't know. That said, I am a master at the deflection shot <ggg> I guess what I am asking is that is there room for part time flyers? All the best, LongHorn

Yellonet, I don't believe it's mandatory for you to belong to a squad, however FS is based on squad participation.

For both Yellonet and Texas Longhorn, go to the link I posted, then go to the Forum. At the top of the page, you'll see a bunch of links, go to "memberlist". You'll see that you can arrange the list by date joined, user name, etc. Select user name. Now you can take a look at all the squads in FS. Just start down the list and see if you can't do a little research on them to pick a squad you'd like to join.

The only thing more lonely than flying by yourself against the computer all the time, is flying online without belonging to a squad.

IV/JG51 is pretty full right now, but I would never discourage anyone from coming by our website and filling out a recruiting form. You will get a response. The FS coops are structured for 32 human flown planes, 16 per side. Right now IV/JG51 has about 20 folks and we're able to almost fill the LW roster for most missions. But there are alot of squads flying in FS that are just a handful of guys who are usually looking for recruits.

Just to clarify for you guys, Forgotten Skies is a squad based war, but the reason for that is mainly because generally speaking, pilots who are a part of a squad are more able to fit into a mission, to fly as part of a team, and able to stick to the script, as it were.

Being in a squad is not mandatory though. Simply, if someone involved in the war knows you are "a decent sort", and you can take off and land without killing yerself, then you don't need to be a part of a squad if you really are adverse to joining one.

I do think that Forgotten Skies is the best online war available right now, and the FS community contains some of the best squads and pilots the IL-2 community has to offer, and it really is a lot of fun.

But, for those who are interested in joining, or trying it out, but aren't in a squad, just drop by the forums, check out the format, and ask to join a mission to "try it out". There shouldn't be any problems at all.
