those that I'd forgotten to add online.

I'm going to be holding a small series race on Sunday at 7pm, though I will hold it at a different time if there are lots of Americans who want to join.

The rules will be:

1) Cars: 1 CAR only, Below 600hp, 2000-2500lbs curb weight, RWD, Production based cars only, Racing livery is a must even if its nothing special, No clownwagon CLK-GTRs as I'd like a race that has an interesting selection of cars
2) All assists off except traction control which will be allowed.
3) Simulation tires and fuel
4) Cosmetic damadge (lots of noobs around that like to rear end you)
5) Clean driving, *******s who backend you really badly not through an accident but because of stupid driving will be banned.

If enough people have the downloadable tracks, I'll include them.

Otherwise tracks will include

3 Laps of the Nurbering

15 laps of Leguna Seca, Silverstone, Road Atlanta and Suzuka

and 30 laps of the speedring If people feel like it.

If people want we can pool some credits together as Prize money.

i hear rwd's are totally out of control when you pound the throttle on corners in forza, how much truth to this mate?

i ask because im thinking of gettin xbox/forza and one of my fave rides is an rx7, so i dont want it to be useless.

Why don't you guys play a real racing sim? Or do you guys prefer Crimson Skies over IL2 as well? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

*sigh*
Against my better judgement, I suppose I'll feed the trolls considering they may learn something from what I type.

You've obviously not played Forza2, so I suggest you do your homework before you assume it's an arcade title.

And if you don't feel it's "real" enough for you, I'd gladly rape any track time you could put up on any Simbin racer or rFactor if you'd like, ya know.... Since you are the authority on simulation racers & all....

Stiletto the troll..... Nice to make your acquaintance..... NOT!

Anyway - let's get an on topic reply here:

danjama - RWD cars loose control in corners if you pound the axcel in real life, so learning how to deal with it is part of the game, yes... And no - RX7's, or any RWDs, are anything but useless! They just demand more attention than AWDs or FWDs in corners.

Depends on the car and how its tuned. RWD's in stock configuration are fine. Its just when you start pumping up the horsepower without upgrading the tires and the suspension is when you have problems. I have a IS350 in my Forza 2 garage and yeah its out of control on the turns because I haven't tuned it right. I have a Porsche that drives beautifully.

Several RX-7s available for driving so you should be quite happy.

Its called fun. And the comparison is hardly accurate. And Im willing to bet you fly with woderwoman view, icons on, externals on, ect...I think you get the point. And since the discussion is not appealing to you then why bother to talk the smack and **** on doods thread? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Righty lads my Addy on Xbox Live is Airmail109, will add you in a bit Pablo.

Add me, if you want to race. Hopefully enough people will turn up.

Yeah 7pm London Time. Dan RWDs are spot on in Forza 2, most people get annoyed though because they mod their standard family cars into track cars without fine tuning the setup and they handle like ****.

ALL my fastest cars are RWD. These are my 911 GT1 Evo, My Saleen and my CLK-GTR. 4WDs tend to understeer. Ever wondered why F1 cars, GT cars or Lemans cars arnt 4wd?

You have to get the setup right though. Most road cars understeer, have softer suspension etc. Nor do you pound the throttle out of a corner in a high power/revving car, you apply smoothly out of the corner. Also many Supercars are actually designed now to drive with traction control even when racing. So sometimes its best to switch it on.

Oh yeah and Forza 2s physics are a lot nicer that GTR2s, especially the tire physics. Which are totally out in GTR

A friend has purchased Forza for the old Xbox. I`m not sure if this is the same Xbox game you guys mean (probabaly not), but what I saw was a game that was VERY realistic with all kinds of fine tuning options. It seemed the most realistic for consoles. Almost as good as the Pc realistic racing sims.

But I am talking about the old Xbox Forza, so maybe you guys are talking about a new different version?

Yeah number 2. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

The original wa great, but 2 is even more polished. Better physics, prettier graphics, better online setup.

Forza 2 is just the sequel. The simulation style physics in place for the original have been cranked up a notch and there are even more tuning options. The tuning and car painting are like a whole extra game in my opinion.

Relax, I'm just joslin you guys a little bit. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
I hear for a console game, Forza 2 is as good as it gets, I just found it funny that thats the racing sim of choice for people who play hardcore flight sims is all! Too bad it only has wonderwoman view and no cockpits, but i'm sure they will get around to these in the next installment or two..

and Havoc, I only fly on fullswitch or close to fullswitch servers such as Zekes vs Wildcats, Spits vs 109s, Warclouds, etc.. In general the racing servers I race on I prefer full switch as well (external views and opponent viwing disabled, traction control and anti-lock braking dissabled) though aids tend to slow you down more than speed you up usually.

Hawggy, sorry to upset you, I was (half) joking with my post, as for simbin sims, rFactor, or Papy sims, I'm sure you are no slouch but those are pretty big words to say that you would "rape" me at any track in any car. I'm just glad to see a similar appreciation for the attention to detail a realistic racing sim provides, such as IL2 does for the flight sim community.

cheers mateys, yea i totally understand the rwd's being faster naturally because of their natural weight shift on accel to rear wheels, and the concept of smooth controlled throttle in and out of corners, but alot of people seemed to be moaning that they were simply uncontrollable. i didnt believe it anyway cos look how well forza is doing, but now i know for sure, who elses word could i take for it but you fellas?!

looks like ill be forking out for an xbox/forza combo after crimbo then, i have just bought a ps3 to play GT5 but now it wont be out for another year minimum (full version, yea im a GT boy) but hey, i love the look of forza, and the depth of customisation is great for keeping a budding mechanic like myself interested!

Job 1: Tom and Jerry painjob for RX7 '93!

The two best! ZvW was my second home for years...until COD4 on Xbox live stole my gaming life! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Aye - no harm no foul. You didn't really upset me... That agression you detected was the forza fanboy in me defending a wonderful title. The track time braggery was pure embellishment; Simple trash talk to "fluff my feathers bigger" is all. I'm sure we disagree on what racer is the better simulator, but it's safe to say Forza holds it's own for being the best console racer you could really have (yeah I said it - f*** Gran Turismo!!).

Oh yeah - Havok: I just got my P90 with the red dot, so I know what you mean about COD4 stealing your game life away!

As always moaning will come from anyone who can't figure out how to play the game. We see it with this game too. Whenever the game mechanics are more than just some button mashing...when you have to put your brain into it.

The thing about Forza, like IL-2 really, is that you can always be better at the game than you are and that some days no matter how good you normally are you don't have the edge and won't do as well as you might normally. I find that the real challenge and its why I come back for more punishment http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

My friend just got a new great job at an architecture firm, he now is helping build the worlds tallest building.. What is the first thing he spends on himself? An Xbox 360 and gets Call of Duty 4 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif . I'd get the PC version, but I need to upgrade my equipment in the new year in order to really enjoy the more high end things.

Hawggy, I had the chance to play a Forza2 setup at Road America last summer, the track accuracy and detail looked good, but there were like 10 punks in line ahead of me, so I opted to try out the Champcar 07 setup for rFactor they had in the paddock, only was 3rd in line at that one http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif .

Hey Havok - XBL all day long bro. I'll add ya 2 my friend's list...

Stilletto - yeah, lotsa ppl would say rFactor is better. I'd have to agree, but in terms of paint jobs and such... I've just fallen in love with Forza. Not to mention this nifty MS steering wheel... It works with both PC and 360 racers. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif

Ahh just get a 360 and worry bout PC upgrades when SoW ships. I played the demo on my rig as maxed out as it allowed and the 360 version looks pretty damn close. Pappy says the same as he has both versions. He runs a 8800GTX and I a 2900XT. The 360 version looks excellent on my Vizio 32" Widescreen at 1080i.

If you can fly IL2 on max settings you should be able to play COD4 btw. Or better yet just go here and select the desired game. http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest

Quick question. Does COD4 have co-op split screen mode like Halo does? Might be my next buy http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Stiletto-
12-16-2007, 04:37 PM
I can run IL-2 on max settings, but my 7800gs is AGP and it has some serious conflict issues that are a known problem with my motherboard chipset, alot of newer games that use more advanced shaders, give big slow downs and lock ups on my machine, I'm going to try and see if I can get a replacement from EVGA but I doubt it because I have had this graphics card for over a year (I didn't realize the problems until I started playing newer games last summer). So I need to upgrade my computer no matter what.. Plus I love to play FPS's with my mouse (trackball) too much!

But I'm wondering if my Logitech G25 Wheel works in a 360? I'm thinking it does.. If so I can try to get my friend to buy Forza2, come down and own his face, while he races on a gamepad. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I wish m8, but PC peripherals don't function on 360's. I've tried. If they did, they'd never sell their own steering wheels (which work for PCs).
